buggy mess; installs bloat without permission

saw a lot of praise for the game and decided to grab it on sale; the concept was interesting, and the actual game can be pretty fun, but its riddled with problems to start, when you first download the game, it'll install paradox launcher onto your system without your permission, and ask you to create an account to play. this isn't mentioned anywhere on the store page as far as i know and is incredibly frustrating coming from gog. (there is an exe file you can find if you dig around the game folder that skips the launcher, but it still sucks ass that this software is downloaded without your permission) then onto the actual game, which while fun, is riddled with bugs (i can't even complete the campaign because of one) the game wants you to do things in a VERY certain way, and if you deviate from it, shit starts to break. overall a pretty shitty experience, not what i expected from gog, wouldn't recommend unless you can see past the aforementioned issues for a decently fun management sim.

Great Game

When I purchased this game I wasn't even in the mood for it, or have any desire to run a prison, but I bought it anyway because it looked interesting and my Wife's into games like this. I played it and Wow! The game's crazy, probably one of the best business/tycoon games I've ever played. I watched a guard get stabbed in the shower, whilst trying to break up a fight, then I watched the same felon make a run for the entry point of the prison (as I didn't know about differences of doors at the time) only to be intercepted by two guards and beaten with batons. Was awesome, pure awesome. Your imagination is the limit when it comes to how you'll construct your prison. Some of the prisons I've seen others create are mind-blowing. One of the few games worth its price, and then some.

This is not what I bought...

Many years ago, interested after discovering the developer, I bought all of Introversion Software's games here on GOG. Uplink, Darwinia, Multiwinia, DEFCON and Prison Architect. But Prison Architect wasn't THIS one! One thing that saddens me about the current reality of the videogame market is that games can now turn into very different things once you've bought them. And not always for the better... Could you provide the latest update from when the game was still developed by Introversion, please? GOG used to be an acronym for “Good Old Games”, could you give me my Good Old Game back?..

Okay €5 toy

I liked the idea of Prison Architect for many reasons and thought it would be a fun addition to Rimworld and Cities: Skylines (i.e. my go-to tweaking games). PA, however, is very rough around the edges. My main complaints are that the UI is rudimentary and doesn't scale at all (text is tiny, buttons don't stand out, art is crude and often nondescript), the controls are clunky (no one-button cancel for build menus, painting is sometimes a line, sometimes a square, no visual indicator for interactions, tooltips nonexistent) and the game seems to be buggy - even the intro missions don't work right, the riot police get stuck in doors, can't be moved and won't fight, so squad after squad just dies, prolonging the misery! As it is now, PA sems an okay concept and has good potential (and dev, AFAICT). I'll pay more-or-less-€5 to support its development, but it's a bad product and not a great game.

Terrible AI / Pathing

Beside this above stuff, which I guess can't be fixed, there's also this: "Play through the awesome 10 hour campaign" Yea, no. It should read "play through an annoyingly over-dramatic and predictable many-hour campaign" once you realize sandbox mode isn't worth a ridiculous $30.
