Heroes of Science and Fiction (formerly known as Silence of the Siren) is a turn-based strategy game where several different space-faring civilizations fight over control of a distant star system. Explore what’s left on the planets and secure resources to build mighty cities. Raise powerful armies and defeat your opponents on the battlefield!

Heroes of Science and Fiction contains 5 playable factions, four campaigns with 4 levels each and 30 skirmish maps set in colorful environments.

 

Each faction brings its own base, 7 upgradeable unit types, a special skill and a set of commanders to choose from. There are 24 skills, 54 active commander abilities and various pieces of equipment, consumables and artifacts.

 

 

The Siren star system, birthplace of a galactic alliance, and the homeworld of a lost Primals civilization, has been cut from the rest of the galaxy. As a result, the carefully built alliance split into bickering factions and secluded colonies. These days, hardly anyone pays attention to the ruins scattered all over the few habitable planets of a freshly isolated system. The deeper you venture into the uncharted regions, the stronger the feeling of endangerment grows. There is something else. An entity, a shade, an echo of whispers from below.

 

 

Explore what's left on the planets and secure important resources. Use them to upgrade your bases with advanced technology and to hire massive armies. Play as several different factions, recruit skilled commanders, teach them new skills and lead them into battle. Overcome obstacles on the map to gather powerful equipment and ancient artifacts.

 

 

Encounter a wide range of enemies in turn-based combat, use your tactical thinking to gain advantage on the battlefield. Learn the unique moves of your units, deploy your commander's special abilities and outsmart even much stronger opponents.

Good game

Been waiting for this game to come to GOG. For those who love HOMM, this is like HOMM on an alien planet. A well made game. Thanks to the developers for releasing this on GOG, and thanks to GOG for getting the game here.

Good but needs Work

Played a bunch of the custom maps and the scenarios. The game is either poorly optimized or has a memory leak somewhere, because a number of maps straight up crash after playing them a but, while others are just super laggy. Luckily not all maps are like that so you can play them, but it's very strange how laggy the maps get so I think for sure a memory leak exists somewhere. I'll be more than happy to update my review to a 5 star after they fix some of these bugs which make the game very problematic to play. The actual gameplay defintiely feels like a WONDERFUL and well executed homage to HOMM3. I have an expensive gaming computer that can play all recent games 60+fps max settings. Love the concept and I hope they fix the issues so I can give it the rating it honestly deserves. EDIT on 5/8/2026: Definite progress has been made after a small patch. The crashes stopped which is good, but the game still gets very laggy. Updated to 4 star vs original 3 star rating since at least the crashes appear to be fixed.

The better successor to Heroes 3!

The better successor to Heroes 3! Between this, SoC and Olden Era I'd choose Heroes of Science and Fiction every day. SoC pulled me in for a while, but didn't have that Heroes feeling. You know the one. Olden era doesn't do anything for me. There might be a good game behind it but the Art Style, the music and the whole atmosphere ruin the whole deal for me. But this, now this is a true Heroes game! The first game since Heroes 3 that feel like a worthy successor. Ok, right there were the King's Bounty games, but they're their own thing. HoSaF does what none of these other games did. It takes the Heroes formula expands it in a good and fitting way and puts it in a fun and well rounded setting with a great atmosphere. Love the soundtrack, the animations, the art style and the lore. If Olden Era doesn't do it for you, this one just might do the trick. It's a great game.

Futuristic Heroes of Might and Magic

If you love HMM? Its an enjoyable game. I think Songs of Conquest is slightly more enjoyable, story-wise, but overall its a fun game.
