amazing game - freedom and plot twists
I really liked Fallout 3 for the amazing post-apocalyptic atmosphere. But Fallout NV stands above it thanks to a fun and twisted main quest that surprises you. The freedom to choose is immense - seems unlimited - and the characters and dialogues are extremely well-written and engaging. The minutiae and details in some of the dialogues is astounding (did not know game developers had culture ;-). Some of the side quests are quite interesting too, and their are future developments to choices you make that you may or may not discover afterward. I just discovered a heart-breaking consequence of one of my "helpful" actions yesterday; because war, war never changes... Had I not passed by that specific location again, I would never had learned what happened. Yes, it is an old game, but you forget about that pretty quickly because the game mechanics are sound and the game really engaging. I modded the game thanks to EssArrBee's page which is an A to Z manual: http://wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas. Worked flawlessly and the game runs smoothly. In terms of writing and plot, this has set the bar for what I wish Skyrim - which I love - could have been.
