Best mini car racer out there!

Yes. Yes, YES. Unbelievable. I went to sleep last night thinking "Why isn't Ignition on GoG?". And the next day, BAM, FRONTPAGE. This is by far, one of the best "Micro Machines" type top-down view mini car racers EVER made. Each car drives different from the others: If you're having issues, go dor the bus. Pro? Head for the police car or the redneck. The tracks are beatuful, animated and they have some interesting shortcuts. Also, obstacles. Both in shortcuts and normal track. Jesus this game has it all. You know, i bought it on a random sale back in 1997, on a local supermarket. Yes, boxed adition. I would never imagine the hours of FUN this game would bring to me. Plus, you could remove the game CD and put a music one, and it would play while racing, with music track selection in game! Thanks GoG for bringing back one of the best games of my childhood. What are you waiting for? Grab it now!

4 stars for the game, 1 for star for GOG

This is a fantastic game! I loved playing this game back in the days.. I would give it 4 stars; good music / audio, nice graphics (for 1997) and gameplay is good, but the game is a bit short on maps and levels... My problem however, with this GOG release is that it comes with DOSBOX (thats why i rate this game 2 stars). I do understand that DOSBOX is the best way for releasing games to people with modern (windows 10) computers, however... its a *SHAME* that GOG doesnt provide the windows binaries (3DFX) for those who can play this game on XP / older hardware. Don't get me wrong, the game is worth the money! (but also freely available on the internet...) As a tip for fans of this game; google yourself the Igntion 3Dfx patch (version 2) and install nGlide

Great game, but keep in mind...

... that this is merely the DOS version of the game, running in DOSBox. It doesn't feature 3dfx, either. So if you're expecting the Windows version in all its glory, you're in for a disappointment. That said, if you haven't played "Ignition" (a.k.a. "Bleifuss Fun" a.k.a. "Fun Tracks") yet, and you're a fan of fun RC car racing games, you've clearly been missing out. This game is a MUST!

You can drive a yellow car called Banana

Ignition is a game I remember fondly. It really is quite good. It sports some cute and funny visuals that even without 3d acceleration out of the original big box, and running in low resolution, still manage to look pretty nice. The tracks are all diverse and inventive, rising in difficulty as you unlock them, not to mention they are full of obstacles to overcome. And of course, it has all the typical options you'd expect of a racer: time trial, arcade, grand prix, the usual. There are only 7 circuits, but they can all be played in mirrored mode (interestingly, due to how the tracks are structured, a regular reverse mode would have been impossible: hence the tracks are horizontally flipped instead, with left turns becoming right turns and vice versa). Some flaws, while perhaps not that visible at first, become more obvious as you play. And the main problem is the utter lack of balance among the selection of cars: good luck winning against your friends with the School Bus, for example. Unlike other games, where grip, acceleration and speed can all be important and useful to win, Ignition is pretty much entirely based on speed. You'll immediately learn to only use the fast cars, and the game makes no secret of that either, always giving you a faster model with every championship you win. Still, as a whole, it's one great mini-racing game. Even without considering the lack of choice on PC at the time (it was pretty much just this and Micromachines, and eventually Re-volt), it's still a title to try.

Fantastic arcade racer

Top down arcade racer. You can unlock stuff as you progress. The races have shortcuts and obstacles you can use to your advantage. Very similar, inspired perhaps, by games like Super Cars, only without weaponry. As I like it! The graphics at the time this game was out were fantastic. They still look good enough. Where the best part is though....the gameplay. It's so much fun to play this game. The combination of the feel of each vehicle you can drive, its looks, the various sound effects, the gorgeous tracks....you just don't want to stop playing. I first got this game in 1997 and I could stop playing it for the next 4 years (when I lost the disc). If you like arcade top down racing games, this is a must for any collection.
