Fallen Enchantress
A World to Build… or Destroy.
“A war is coming… a war between East and West - between Kingdoms and Empires, between man and Fallen. A future of blood and death, of chaos and destruction.
– the Oracle Ceresa
Design your sovereign with unique talents and weapons for the trials ahead. Learn powerful spells to enchant units, summon elementals, or destroy those who oppose you. Found cities and research technologies to expand your influence. Send your champions on quests to recover ancient artifacts, gain allies, or obtain the great wealth lost during the Cataclysm.
The land is not simply waiting to be claimed; it must be conquered. Darkling camps, ogre lairs and caves waiting to be explored dot the landscape. In remote corners of the world, tireless butchermen, fell demons and legendary locations are waiting to be found. Explore Varda, a pre-Cataclysm city defended by golems that have turned on the citizens and made the city into a prison. Defeat Sarog to claim the Temple of the Dragon and recruit Ashwake Dragons to your cause. Claim the Flooded Graveyard or the Pit of Sarpah to harness the powerful magical energy of those locations.
Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes
The Fallen Enchantress seeks to destroy the civilizations that have risen from the ashes of the Cataclysm. Fortunately, your fame has spread and great heroes have been drawn to your banner. With your new champions, you will confront horrors like liches, brood hunters, banshees, and the dreaded hergon. Players will forge a new empire in a world sundered by powerful magic, fight against terrible creatures, complete quests and rediscover lost secrets in their bid to rule the world of Elemental.
Key Features
Gain Champions Through Fame: Champions are no longer simply found, instead, they seek you out based on the amount of Fame your kingdom has generated. And not all of these legendary heroes were Men or Fallen…
New Leveling System: Your sovereign and champions now evolve through a skill tree that visually allows you to plan what kind of hero you want him or her to be. Make your mage into a powerful Necromancer, or train your Assassin in special attacks that bleed the life from your enemies.
Updated Tactical Battles: Battles are now more intense with additional special skills, combat mechanics, spells and new maps.
New Monsters: The legendary heroes didn’t reach our lands alone. The events of the Fallen Enchantress have raised the dead and caused forgotten creatures to return to the surface of the world.
More Magic: New spells like ‘Lightning Form’ and ‘Raise Skeletal Horde’ add new options and dangers to battle.
Larger Maps: A new gigantic sized map delivers truly epic games.
Updated Graphics Engine: An improved graphics engine delivers stunning new visuals while improving performance on older machines.
And much, much more!
Recruit Champions - Equip them with rare magical items that you create or discover. Customize your champion’s special abilities and traits as they gain levels.
Fight in tactical battles - Battle enemy armies or the wild creatures of the world. Command your armies directly and choose between the special attacks and spells your units have learned.
Design your units - Customize their armor and weapons. Equip units with mounts to quickly close on enemy units. Train them with specialized traits like Discipline and Ignore Pain.
Liberate or Enslave - Transform Elemental into a noble kingdom, or an empire where citizens are fuel for your spells. Build studies and workshops to make your citizens more productive, or gallows and sacrificial altars to keep your citizens motivated.
Ultra good fantasy turn based game (with strong rpg elements)! If you like games like Age of Wonders, Master of Magic, Hereos of Might and Magic III, Fall from Heaven II (mod for Civ IV) , must buy Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes! This game is worth every one $.
Play with mods! One of the best : XtraDeconstruct: Legacy of Magic

Despite my very contradictory attitude towards Stardock, their games and their business policy, I must admit that FELH is one of the best fantasy-4X that I played in my life (and it turns out that I played EVERY fantasy-4X game released up to this day). I think it even surpasses two first Age of Wonders games in my eyes, and now stands side by side with the King Unsurpassable, Master of Magic itself.
Brad Wardell (Stardock mastermind) confessed that Elemental world (and FELH is a pinnacle of this serie, 'cause Sorcerer King is a sidestep turned into misstep IMO) is his labour of love. And it shows here in every bit of the whole.
Mythology, lore and writing are immersive and mood-setting, just as the unique watercolor-like graphics. Tactic battles are, well, tactical. Exploration feeling is exciting. Variety of monsters, spells, skills, items, units customization variants, playstyles seems endless. Replayability is definitely there, there, and there again. Research is very good balanced. Random map generator is sensible. AI is bearable at Normal and quite competent on higher difficulty (as far as AI may be competent in 4X game at all).
No game for a very (and I mean VERY) long time didn't give me that legendary good old 'one more turn' feeling. FE Legendary Heroes did.
It has bugs. It has some minor weak points. It may seem not so colorful or outdated to someone. But it has an atmosphere so thick you can eat it with spoon. It has SOUL that Brad Wardell, Derek Paxton (Civ4 Fall from Heaven mods author) and all the stardockians put in it. And there's still patching. There's mods. This fantasy world is alive.
And I want to heartfully thank everyone involved in the creation of this amazing breathing world.
I know it, you know it, we all know it: the game looks UGLY. We can pretend to like the low quality blurry textures, horrendous 3D character models and the watercolour art style but like with MoM, both games looked ugly on release.
But outside of that, this game stands next to giants like MoM, AoW and Endless Legends, despite not being as nearly well-known and highly rated as those other games. This game, I would say, has the most RPG elements for a 4X, which in turn allows for the most customisation and player-driven builds. You can visually customise heroes, units, equip them with armour, weapons and accessories then send them out to battle with fast-paced, tactical turn-based battles where units take turns depending on initiative the value. Base building is fun, seeing your village visually grow outwards with the more upgrades you buy, tie that together with the research trees and you feel like you're growing your own empire; rather than a "pre-defined" one the game sets out for you. There is diplomacy, not the best but far from the worst and functions favourably to make strategic decisions, such as being able to trade research progress for other gains.
Something I like about this game, that AoW also does, is when you scroll out the world map it changes into a "board game" aesthetic. It's quite pleasing to the eye and adds to the overall immersion. You can also do basic things like toggle resources on/off, manage armies and choose where to settle new cities. Standard 4X is all here.
Overall, it's a high fantasy 4X that combines many RP elements with grand strategy and tactical battles and there just aren't many games like this. As said above, this shares similarities with other games and is just (and better in ways) than them, but you need to look past dated graphics, bugs and clunky UIs.
A great game, although I wish It had more RPG elements. I got it for free because I bought Elemental back in the day. I also won the contest, so the game includes features which I suggested, "Bandit Lord" where you start with bandits and can win them to your side.
Turn-based strategy game, great on paper (empire building, research, tactical combat) but awful in execution. Extremely unpolished, feels more like a highschool project, looks incredibly ugly, has bugs and it crashes a lot.
