For a Limited time: Buy Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back now and receive the Bubsy OST for free!

Our favorite Bobcat is making a triumphant return 20 years after virtually disappearing from the world stage (N64/PS1). Yes, that’s right, Bubsy is back and starring in an all new adventure, Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back! Yep, those no good, yarn stealing always annoying intergalactic trolls, the Woolies, are up to their no good ways once again! They’ve stolen Bubsy’s most prized possession, the Golden Fleece. Now Bubsy is on a one Bobcat mission taking on Woolies, Bumble Bees, Sharks, and UFO's to collect an insane amount of yarnballs and bring his Holy Grail of Wool home.

2D, or not 2D? Bubsy thinks 3D is so 1998 that he’s going back to the 2D well with a huge assist with his good friends at Black Forrest for 14 rip roaring levels of side scrolling action. Watch Bubsy glide like Bat, jump like a jack rabbit, bounce like a red rubber ball and run…run Bubsy run. This is the Bubsy adventure you were born to play.

Way too short and too easy

This seems like a demo for a larger game since it ends after a hour or so (speedrunners could probably get it down to few minutes), maybe a bit longer if you go for every secret and piece of yarn. On top of that, it is way too easy, which only underlines shortness of the experience. For once, it has checkpoints literally everywhere, even in the places where they don't make any sense (like few steps from the start of a level, or right next to the end of it). It's like the level "designer" (if you even can call that person that) placed them willy-nilly, completely at random. This game really needed more time in the oven, perhaps even until the very next Halloween. As it is now, it's a really ghastly and empty experience.

Sonic Mania this ain't.

As someone who actually likes the first Bubsy and nothing else since, I'll just say that playing this game actually makes me appreciate it more than ever, flaws and all. This game can be beaten in 1 hour and feels like a paid demo for the most generic, soulless and impossibly boring platform game ever made. This game went to the opposite extreme from being too hard to too easy, as most of the stages are now cakewalks that can be beaten with minimum effort by abusing the glide, due to abundant checkpoints and extra lives. Speaking of stages, none of them have unique enemies or stage gimmicks to make them feel unique or distinct like in Sonic or Mario. Instead, all that changes between stages is the background and the layout, but nothing else. As such, since each stage basically reuses the same elements and none of the stages are distinguishable, none of them are memorable whatsoever. The new pounce ability feels like the developers were trying to take Sonic's classic spin attack while making it just different enough to not be considered a rip-off, but its clunky, difficult to control and will mostly just get you killed. The new wall climbing is OK, but apart from that nothing new is added to the table in terms of mechanics. Essentially this game is a $5 budget phone game that the developers shamefully decided to charge quadruple for. Do yourself a favour and just buy Sonic Mania instead if you want to see how a remake or sequel to a classic platforming franchise should be done.

Not horrible but WAY too short.

So the game was made by the devs who also made the Giana sisters games... which were pretty good and average at worst. So it had competent developers... and the game is competently made. It just feels like a game unlike the billions of asset flips infesting Steam that only exist to farm steam cards. But i swear the production budget probably ran out after designing 3 levels and the developers had to sustain themselves by sniffing a communal hotdog at work while they quickly hammered out the rest of the game before the all die of hunger. As a result the game is insultingly short. It's not even the Angry Joe "4 hours" meme short... as you can literally comfortably finish it within 2 hours... maybe even 1 if you are good at platformers and didn't bother with collecting 100% of the yarnballs. I'd give it 3 or even 4 stars if the game was either 4 times longer or 4 times cheaper... but as things are it's best avoided.

Short, but good

This game is really short and easy, but I like it. Graphics, sound and the controls (with gamepad) are good and I had no technical problems. If you run through the levels you can finish it in 1-2 hours, but I have tried to collect all items and got all after 3 hours. I've bought it for 3 bucks in a sale and and that's worth it.

Definitely not worth the asking price...

Holy crap, Accolade actually released a playable, functional Bubsy game! And it only took them 20 years to do it! Too bad they've priced the game out of the market; definitely not worth the asking price... Consider the competition that's currently out at the same same time, and the same prices as this; A Hat in Time for $30, Cuphead for $20... I wouldn't pay more than $10 for this.
