Greatest Game of all time?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is certainly deserving of it's GOTY award... it may well be the greatest game of all time (so far)... A masterful piece of story-telling... wonderful gameplay, graphics, music, lore... the list goes on. The main storyline is poignant, complex & deeply moving... and so too are many of the side quests/stories (which is very impressive & something that most games aren't able to achieve) Words cannot properly explain the utter masterpiece that this game is. You've got to play it for yourself to understand.

A Timeless Masterpiece

I got this game for free when I built my PC along with GTA V. Never heard of it before, or any of the books or other games. Started playing GTA V (loved it) and then switched to this game out of curiosity. After two weeks of playing it, I stopped. Instead, I bought every Witcher book that was released at that time, started reading through them and once that was done I bought the first and second games and played through them (albeit, only once). Only after ALL that was done, and it took me about a year, did I start a new game and started playing. The Witcher 3 isn't a game, it's really a whole world. The characters, locations, concepts, they're all connected to eachother in such a way that going from the books to the games is a flawless (and encouraged) experience. The sidequests are indistinguishable from the main in terms of quality, and, while I haven't finished this game, I think it's more of a fear of it ending then one of non-enjoyment. The only downside I have to this game is the combat. It does get a little repetitive and I think that there are a few optimizations that could've made this slightly better. For example, I've seen a mod that automatically applies oils and poitions if you have them/can make them to enemies you know how to fight against. That's pretty nifty, and would prevent the slowdown of having to open a menu. Overall, if you like RPGs, if you like good, questioning stories, no doubt you should pick this up. It can be a little slow/confusing at the start, but I still remember almost every quest I've done in this game and it's well worth the investment in both time and money.

Remove DRM

Was, finally, going to pick this up during the last Christmas sale, but DRM put an end to that, making my game experience terrible (can't play it at all). Whether or not you agree this is DRM, please vote to let offline/non-Galaxy users get all content, and read on for more info: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/witcher_3_remove_drm Near the top of the page it says "Rewards for owning The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt", which suggests they're rewards for OWNING the game, not using Galaxy, even though the description says you need to use Galaxy to get them. Offline owners are owners, too. Everything needs to be included offline. GOG's biggest features were old games and DRM-free. Now they DRM they're own games, which I'm not going to reward by buying. 2025 lets go

Reinstalling the 50gb next gen version over stupid slow 5g internet to play again in 2025, the game is that good. People are recommending the "Brothers in Arms" patch from Nexusmods that fixes the bugs (5000+) that are still in the game. That being said when I finished the vanilla story a few years ago I didn't have any mods/patches installed and it ran just fine. But for the best possible experience in 2025 I am going to try a few of the QOL mods this time. Soundtrack is still probably best ever in a video game.
