In fact, the only good one.

Throughly entertaining!
I just completed my first playthrough. As it's an older game, I installed a metric ton of mods (improved models, textures, and bug fixes, but to the best of my knowledge, nothing that would modify core game mechanics or the rendering style). At 4K with all the settings maxed out, it looks lovely! The voice acting ranged from good to great (mostly very good). The story was engaging. It wasn't always clear how to progress the game, but that's what the internet is for, right? The collect-the-sex-cards game was puerile. UI: It took some getting used to the battle mechanics--I wish the sounds were synchronized with the appearance of the flaming sword pointer, because I kept finding myself wanting to click based upon what I was hearing instead of seeing. Never really did get the boxing UI figured out, though I did ultimately become the champion. Bugs: some were amusing (jumping beards/hair). More seriously, there were a couple events that didn't trigger, and some (repeated) crashes. In the end, I got past all of them. For the event bugs, the solution was usually to exit the area and return. For the crashes, sometimes simply reloading was enough, other times, walking a different direction than I'd originally intended would avoid the crash. Unlike another recent review, I never had to switch to windowed mode. Overall: I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could, because it's got some rough edges. But there is a marvelous time to be had playing: I quite enjoyed romping about as Geralt of Rivia!

Quirk Game
This game is quite quirk, at least in my eyes. Pro: Multy-choice quests Dice game Simple gore Con: Quirky and sometimes bad combat system (also lack some depth in character building) Model reused too many times

Loved back in 2007, now not so much
OK. I know that it's really the first "big" game that kickstarted CDP to the level that eventually brought us Witcher3 and CP2077. I bought the pre-order launch edition in that big box (and got it delivered later than the game was available in stores but that's another story) and I had loads of fun with it back then even though before one of the patches loading times made it really a test of patience. I tried to come back to it now in 2024. And just couldn't force myself to deal with the weirdness of the UI, controls and mechanics. No jumping, no climbing, no swimming... You can feel the age. Even GTA3 was less limiting. The combat system is clunky. Yes, it can be mastered, it is liked by some people but for me it's mostly annoying. And some of the "plot devices" - like Vesemir standing in the only doorway from a room so that you cannot pass (because every time you approach him a dialogue with no real options except for "see ya later" opens) and simply must do the thing that script writers said you must do to continue. Well, it feels the game is relatively old and much simpler than modern ones. So yes, the memory is sweet but it didn't age very well. Maybe not like milk but definitely not like wine. It's worth remembering as a significant step in the long way to the masterpiece that Witcher 3 was but for me that's it - worth remembering, not really worth replaying.
