Baggins: Well, if you hit CTRL F5 in the game... You will bring up scummVm's settings, if you click on go to launcher you can check the settings... The settings udner "Engine" has a checkbox for use High resolution MPEG video", so at least SCUMMVM is supposed to be able to use them... This feature is already checked...

So maybe the files are not in the right place that ScummVM is supposed to read them... I'm still trying to find any information on SCUMM's side, that might discuss what the file structure should be....

Note you can't just manually run this game in ScummVM, it also needs some fonts places in specific folders and places... before it will run.. I haven't found all the fonts it needs, or tried to put them in the locations it says to put them yet... But if you are willing to test this and let me know what happens... It would be great...

kittyteddy: I am one step ahead of you. I have already tested this out last night, as I was so disappointed by the video quality in the game. Switching on the Mpeg option in the options in ScummVm launcher or off has no apparent improvement to the video quality. I wonder why Activision never even bothered to touch up their own logo video.
Good with two us tinkering maybe can figure out what and where things need to be...

Definitley watch the vob files seperatley you will be pleasantly surprised by their quality.
Just pointing this out that 3D Sound may require very old 'legacy' drivers from stuff like Creative Labs "EAX"... Now adays that's only accessibly by setting up Creative Labs "ALchemy" legacy software, which is only available with some Creative Labs sound cards. It might be available to anyone with Creative Labs, card but you might need to check your card model for the right version. If you already have a SoundBlaster Card it might already be installed... In which case you need to set up ALchemy to emulate EAX/3D sound directly for your game. That requires adding the game's EXE to Alchemy I believe....

Other than that for those who don't have a Sound Blaster there is some digital virtual sound blaster that Creative sales, but I don't know how Win10 friendly it is or not. Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 or some such. It's around $30.

Beyond that there might be some alternative fan emulation packages but again I don't know about windows compatiblity for them, or how to set them up.

I haven't taken the time to test this game to see if it is compatible with any of these legacy 3D sound drivers I've mentioned in this post. But maybe it can be helpful to some people.
There is no much difference between the old 'CD' version and the new updated 'DVD' version because ScummVM has not yet added the support for DVD (MPEG2) movies, particularly for its AC3 audio codec :(

So, while there is an option to turn quality MPEG2 videos on, it does not actually do anything.
