Tried the many compability settings, with and without Widecreen patch. Don't know what else to do.

full screen or windowed?

you may need a complete uninstall, not just from the gog app but also from the applocal folders.

Fixed by enabling Windows XP Service Pack 3 Compatibility in the executable's properties.
