Like a lot of folks trying to play Zeus on a Windows 10 machine, I was having problems launching the game. I tried every fix out there: Disabling overlays, installing widescreen patches, running in compatibility modes... Nothing seemed to work. I constantly had the exact same problem: The game would start, give me a black screen, and then crash to desktop.

I had pretty much given up hope of running the game, but then I heard about dgVoodoo for a completely different game, and got to wondering if it would help here, since it was described as "a wrapper for older video APIs," and since Zeus uses a practically ancient DirectX API, I figured I'd go ahead and try it out.

Now, it doesn't work perfectly. I think I need to screw around with some of the Voodoo settings to get it to run without problems, but the game actually launches, and I was able to play it for a while before something caused the screen to freeze and I had to force quit the game. I haven't seen anyone anywhere mention this fix, so I'm posting this here and on the Steam forums for everyone's convenience.

Step by step:
-Download dgVoodoo (WARNING: Practically every web browser detects this as a virus. I guess because it has weird .dlls or something. It's a false positive. It won't hurt your computer. Trust me.)
-Extract the contents of the .zip file somewhere (Not the Zeus installation folder)
-Copy the contents of the MS folder into your Zeus install directory (wherever the .exe is)
-Run the game as you normally would

I recommend switching to windowed mode in the game settings, as fullscreen tends to be a bit wonky, at least for me. If you want to mess with your dgVoodoo configuration, run the dgVoodooCpl.exe file.

I hope this helps other folks run this classic game. Good luck!

Thank you for this solution. Once I installed dgvoodoo (correctly) it is working. Menu screen is a bit disorganized but the game works!
