How does someone confirm that we are getting the same updates that the Steam version is getting? Sorry I’m new to GoG.

We are not at the moment getting the same updates. We have had one update (the first patch) but not the others. Steam also has a beta channel that they are using to test fixes that we do not have.

Yeah fair enough, I did go into this version assuming that it would be lower-priority for getting updates.

What should I do going forward? Is it reasonable to assume that we will be getting the same updates as the Steam version not too long after Steam gets them? Have we been following the Steam version for updates up to this point but with a bit of a delay? Have we been getting entirely different updates altogether? Should I just jump ship and go to the Steam version?

All good questions that I am also wondering about and have no clue on.
Well, I'm rolling back, at least it was playable (though I hadn't made it to Coral Forest yet) on GOG-1, GOG-2 is completely 100% broken in every way for me.

I need to make it to Coral Forest, and get the fourth party member, before the refund opportunity has passed. Those seem to be the two major places people end up buggered and I want to make sure I've had the chance to pass both of those before I end up stuck with $60 worth of wasted hard drive space.
I ended up getting the 4th party member and as long as I didn't enter the jungle after I didn't crash. I have had controller issues and flickering screens in certain area though. I seem for the most part to have been lucky and had little in the way of issues but there still have been some annoying ones that it would be nice to get patches for.

I am starting to completely agree that $60 was way too much for this game though, even with it all working it should have been $40 max.
What is update 2 and 3 changelog ?
There is supposedly a "hotfix" update that has no changelog attached to it. Have there been more updates than that? I keep asking over in Steam. (EDIT: I actually found my comments buried in one of the many news threads, took me a while to find. Goes to show how many of those there are... I'm still leaving what I had earlier here), b̶u̶t̶ ̶I̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶i̶c̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶d̶a̶y̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶m̶e̶n̶t̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶g̶e̶t̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶r̶e̶m̶o̶v̶e̶d̶.̶.̶.̶ ̶T̶h̶a̶n̶k̶s̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶m̶a̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶f̶e̶e̶l̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶s̶e̶c̶o̶n̶d̶ ̶c̶l̶a̶s̶s̶ ̶c̶i̶t̶i̶z̶e̶n̶,̶ ̶N̶I̶S̶A̶.̶ ̶g̶g̶

Changelog for Update 2 (added 25 April 2018):

* Improved joystick control (now true analog rather than 8-directional)
* General text fixes
* Fixed an issue that was causing the OP movie video and audio to stutter
* Fixed an issue that was causing the touchpad/tablet service to interrupt the game roughly every 15 minutes
Hello, guys! I'd like to know from you if those recent patches for the Steam game have already reached the GoG one.Are those fixes being applied here also for all of the GoG users? Yes i read both these foruns and Steam but i'd rather learn it from you buyers directly.Specially when i'm considering myself a future buy of this amazing but plagued PC port of Ys VIII!
i think the update 3 has fixed the Audio shuttering when using multiple Audio line out even not using it
in Update 2 i had to disable my other usb audio line out to make this work
/me taps foot waiting for the flicker patch to show up on GOG.

That can be painful at times and the Steam version already has the fix for it.
