I've played the intro four times and everytime I get to the top of the statue have the Pagie talk to me but the Pagie I'm supposed to get stays there and doesn't add to my Pagie number, then when I get to the book or Grand Tome the game stops loading. It just plays two sounds on a black screen.

Have you installed this through GOG Galaxy or on another computer?
Try uninstalling GOG galaxy and Yooka Laylee . Then downloading and running it through gog.com with GOG galaxy not running.
Be sure to go into the LocalLow folder just before the AppData folder and delete the Yooka Laylee data in there, this won't be removed when uninstalling the game.
That's how I fixed a similar problem.

Hi,
dparkes26

I collected the first Pagie I will tell you how the world loading goes later. I want to stream and record my gameplay.
I orginally installed it on another laptop through GOG Galaxy because my laptop is messed up currently and transfered it over. I then got GOG Downloader on another laptop to get just the install files then transfered that over unistalled it again and installed again. I still had the probllem occuring.

I did as you wrote I uninstalled Yooka-Laylee and got rid off the local folder and shut down GOG Galaxy and reinstalled it.

Thank you so much for your help dparkes26, I was hoping to play this over the easter break but I guess I just have to settle for what little time I have left.

Thank you for your reply and help, I hope you enjoy/enjoyed the game yourself.

Thanks,
GameGuyZ.
Anybody know what happens if you re-install GOG Galaxy and import the game folder afterwards? Does it screw the game back up again or does it run fine through GOG Galaxy after that?
I tested it out for myself. If you try to reinstall GOG Galaxy and import the game folder it breaks it all over again. I had to fix it by uninstalling GOG Galaxy and replacing the save files I had backed up beforehand. So I'm unable to use GOG Galaxy at all with this game which sucks. Playtonic needs to fix this. Also, even if I just reinstall GOG Galaxy without importing or installing Yooka Laylee with it, it STILL breaks the game. I had downloaded the install files from gog.com and installed Yooka Laylee in a folder outside of GOG Galaxy, but for some reason just GOG Galaxy being on my computer even if it's not running breaks it... ???

For anyone having this problem.

Simply signing out of GOG Galaxy works. No need for any uninstalling! You can even use the "Play" button inside Galaxy to start the game, you just need to be logged out of your account (using the menu with your account name).

Didn't work for me. Had to completely uninstall GOG Galaxy. Not signing in or not running it made no difference even with starting a new game. Only worked by removing GOG Galaxy entirely.
This issue hasn't been solved, this is a workaround. It would be totally fine is this were an old game with no support from the developer, but this is a brand new game, so I hope Playtonic (or the GOG team, seeing how this is a problem that is related to GOG Galaxy) get to work

Yeah honestly it's completely ridiculous. This is a pretty huge error if you use GOG Galaxy. Unfortunately in my case, I can't even have GOG Galaxy installed at all. Makes no difference if I don't run it or sign in, game is still broken until I remove GOG Galaxy from my computer. Which is even more frustrating because Yooka Laylee is the only game I've even had an issue with, so because of this one game GOG Galaxy is a no go until I'm finished with the game and move on. I was a backer for Yooka Laylee and regret my decision of choosing a GOG key over Steam. Sure I can still play the game but it's really disappointing that something this glaring still hasn't been fixed. Even worse, not a peep out of Playtonic and it's been well past the launch date so any excuse of being overwhelmed by launch is running out. It would be in everyone's interest, GOG and Playtonic, to get this all sorted out. Resorting to a work around that requires you to not use the software for a digital platform you purchased the game on should be inexcusable.
I haven't played the game since this arose because I am not about to go through all that hassle just to play one game and also make it harder for me to play other games installed through galaxy. Marking this as solved is throwing up red flags all over the place to me. Saying that gog is trying to ignore an issue of their beta download client and a brand new game. Both gog and the devs should be working together to figure this out so not only is this game playable again but this cannot happen to other games in the future.

OP can mark whatever post they choose as the solution. There are also several other threads about this issue.
