This sucks! Glad I purchased the game when it was released on gog. I really hope the game will make a return on gog at some point , though if you had problems with Ubi , this might not happen anytime soon.
Ok, I'm really curious at this point - why was it removed, and is there any chance of it returning? I know I should probably be thankful since I already own the game on my account, but I am aware that a lot of other people might like to play it. If my reaction to the removal of Space Rangers 2 and Quake Wars from Steam is any indication, I know how bad that can feel.

I presume it was removed because the licensing deal (between Ubisoft and the owner of the comic series) has ended and most likely GOG doesn't have any more information on this.

gibbeynator: Will it be gone for good, or will you be working to get it back?

DCT: Good question, I guess it would depend on why the game is being pulled. More then likely Ubisoft's licence to use XII has finally expired and probably felt it was not worth renewing or couldn't renew it, and given that Ubisoft still owns the rights to the game itself as it was made by their Paris division/studio then I wouldn't hold my breath as it would require Ubisoft and whatever parties attached to the XII licence to come some sort of a agreement and a more then likely revenue split between all parties.

Now if Ubisoft decided to sell their rights to the game to whoever(pending of course Whoever has licensed the rights to the XII ip) then GOG would need to ink a new deal with said group/company.
Good thing it was DRM-free. I've got it copied to my external hard-drive for safe keeping.
I only just found out that it's not on GOG any more. That's quite a big shame, I never finished the game on my PS2.

I'm hoping it'll return some day, but I'm guessing if it's been missing since 2012 it's been lost to the sands of time.
Oh no!

My TV stopped working and my new 4K set doesn’t have any ports other than HDMI.
Now I can’t play old my old Original Xbox console or XIII anymore.

I brought a physical copy for PC but it won’t install on Windows 10.

Does somehowvhave a digital code or something they’d be willing to sell me?

Have you tried installing your physical copy using this method
(for CD version only)

Thanks, I’m trying to
Copy the first CD...

There is 15 files on the disc and one called desktop.ini that says “files ready to be written to the disc” that will not copy over.

desktop.ini is a hidden Windows file that saves the location of items on your desktop. It has a protected status in the operating system, which is why it won't copy. It shouldn't be on the game disc though. It sounds like you copied the files to your desktop before attempting to burn them to a new CD, and desktop.ini wants to come along for the ride.

I got rid of my XIII CDs when I bought the GOG copy, so I can't check for sure. But I suspect that burning just the files won't work. Given the era the game was released in, I would expect copy protection would prevent that. In order to get around that so that you can keep your original discs as an archive, you will probably need to use disc imaging software to burn a 1:1 duplicate of the CD. Doing it that way will also prevent stray system files from finding their way onto the target disc.

Hey folks. I haven't gotten a GOG.com copy of XIII but got a physical copy off of ebay :)
Got it working fine and even installed.

My question is can I safely add it to the galaxy launcher without any sort of copy right warning coming up?
Yes its a legit version.

It's my understanding that Galaxy won't find the CD version. You can try, but I believe Galaxy looks for id files placed there from GOG installers to locate a game. I don't have any games installed from physical media, but if I test the import function on games that I have installed from elsewhere (e.g. Steam games that don't use Steam's DRM), Galaxy cannot find them.

Either way though, you won't get any kinds of warnings beyond "no games found". That would be a kind of DRM.

How did you install it?

Even after I managed to get the 4 discs on my hard drive the same problem persists when I try to install. Stuck on disc 2 or 4...
I install the game from 4 cds in a virtual environment:
wmware workstation 12 player and windows xp sp3.
after installing and test playing, i copied to windows 7 64bit
and run from there and it worked :)
