Hello

I have searched for a patch that makes the original game bug free. I know about openxcom but I just want the original game. Anybody have have link?
sorry to say that gog seems to have the latest official patch
so openxcom will probably be the only option for bugfixing
unless someone made a mod that only fixes bugs
which i havent seen so far

the most amusing bug i seen so far is a trooper falling under the map so far it seems to happen rarely when stepping on damaged tiles

side note:: any particular bugs that you're looking at specificaly?

ahh i see
well hate to say the difficulty isn't a bug its the way the game was designed
its meant to be nasty nail your butt to the wall experience

there are a fe things you can do to lessen it, save scumming, hex editing,
save editors if you can find one and can get it to work which may take palying around with dosbox a bit

No I mean that the game resets to the easiest difficult setting after you have saved the game or something like that. So all difficulties are the same. I guess that is probably fixed.

If you want to experience the game as close to original as possible while still circumventing the difficulty bug I would suggest XComUtil. It makes some extremely minor tweaks and includes some mods that you can opt out of during installation.

Perfect! Just what I needed.
For what it's worth, the GOG release has the difficulty bug fixed for Enemy Unknown /UFO Defence. So you don't have to use XComutil unless you want to make use of its various mod-cons.

For TFTD, to preserve your sanity when playing the two-part missions (of which there will be plenty), I highly recommend that you avoid XComutil.

I know it's contrary to popular opinion, but a well meaning fix by XComutil may occasionally leave you without your ammo when you move to the second half of a two part mission. The bane of a number of Youtube TFTD LPs.
