Hi all, I'm having some trouble getting some mods I installed from the Nexus website through Vortex working with the GOG version of the game. I've tried using mods through the Vortex Mod Manager, and I've tried installing them manually. Through Vortex, the game will either launch with none of the mods I have enabled activated, or will crash and hang on startup.

I've checked my Vortex config, and the XCOM folder is set correctly. The mod staging folder is also on the same drive XCOM is on. When I tried installing the mods manually, they never loaded with the game, but at least XCOM did launch to the main menu.

My mods folder is located in G:\GOG\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods and all the mods I was trying to use were written in the DefaultModOptions.ini.

I have XCOM installed through GOG Galaxy, but I've had the same result whether I launch through the client or through the shortcut in the game folder.

I would really appreciate any help, because I've been trying to Google the solution for a day and a half now. I really would like to be able to mod this game.

The mods I was trying to use were (would post links, but no rep):
Disable Timers
Capnbubs Accessories Pack - No expansion
Stop Wasting My Time 1.1.0
EvacAll-1.9

I'll try to give a detailed instruction of mods installation for WOTC game, based on memory and how it's currently structured on my hard drive. I believe, applying mods for base game is similar except resulting destination paths.

\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Mods\ - the mods path.
Here I have different folders for each mod, where I named these folders same as files with .XComMod extension within just in case, e.g.
\Mods\
--\EvacAll_WotC\
--\InstantAvengerMenus\
--\NoStinkingFatigue\
--\StopWastingMyTime\

\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.ini - the mods config path, e.g.
[Engine.XComModOptions]
ActiveMods="StopWastingMyTime"
ActiveMods="InstantAvengerMenus"
ActiveMods="EvacAll_WotC"
ActiveMods="NoStinkingFatigue"

All this was done by myself, not by Vortex.
Also make sure that you have appropriate mods versions, e.g. not applying WOTC versions on base game and vice versa.
And I believe all mods were downloaded from Steam workshop instead, since probably there were more up-to-date versions, but don't take my words on that.
I'm doing this right, I believe, and it still isn't working. Take a look at my attached pics. any help or suggestions appreciated.
Do you need to launch the game through the GOG desktop app? Is there somewhere in that app that I should be able to see that GOG can 'see' the mods? Or is that asking too much? Thanks.

I had this problem nearly a year ago of mods suddenly just not working. Just returned to see if any has found a solution.

I'm actually beginning to believe they're added some kind of code to screw with Mods (without telling us) on the GOG version, cos I never had this problem on the Steam version.

I was using Galaxy, and it went fine. Overall, I doubt that it's the culprit here.

Various ways:
- launch log on {User}\Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Logs (diff folder name for XCOM 2), which contains these strings for me:

[0012.74] Log: Checking DLC installation for ../../XcomGame/Mods/EvacAll_WotC ...
[0012.74] Log: IS INSTALLED : , YES
[0012.74] Log: Checking DLC installation for ../../XcomGame/Mods/InstantAvengerMenus ...
[0012.75] Log: IS INSTALLED : , YES
[0012.75] Log: Checking DLC installation for ../../XcomGame/Mods/NoStinkingFatigue ...
[0012.76] Log: IS INSTALLED : , YES
[0012.76] Log: Checking DLC installation for ../../XcomGame/Mods/StopWastingMyTime ...
[0012.77] Log: IS INSTALLED : , YES
- debug console, which I believe is same as above, but in real-time. For this, create a shortcut from .exe with these args:

"..\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\Binaries\Win64\XCom2.exe" -allowconsole -log -autodebug -nostartupmovies
- try to use Alternative Mod Launcher.
Since it's primarily based to use with Steam, there is mentioned workaround in its wiki.

i have it working now
gog galaxy
vortex
nexus mods
install whatever

then goto load order tab
check the boxexs
....
deploy mods tab .

it works
it actually works ...
In short: Mods DO work.

I have latest XCOM 2 base game from offline installer and I've decided to check if mods work on it.

Read those useful links:
www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/index/download_mods
www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/index/starting_the_game#wiki_4.29_no-steam_versions
www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/index (in general very helpful)

Tested on two mods:
Stop Wasting My Time 1.1.0-217-1-1-0
Free Camera Mod-1-2-1-1

I've created Mods folder in \XCOM 2\XComGame\
then I put those mods into their respective folders, like this:
\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods\FreeCameraRotation\ (contains folders and file FreeCameraRotation.XComMod)
\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods\StopWastingMyTime\ ((contains folders and file StopWastingMyTime.XComMod)
then I've edited \XCOM 2\XComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.ini
made it like this:
[Engine.XComModOptions]
ActiveMods="StopWastingMyTime"
ActiveMods="FreeCameraRotation"

Name of each ActiveMods entry should correspond to name of .XComMod file for each mod.

Then I run the game and loaded some mission from my campaign and they all worked!

Also in your \Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Logs\Launch.log

there are lines:
[0004.99] Log: Checking DLC installation for ../../XcomGame/Mods/FreeCameraRotation ...
[0004.99] Log: IS INSTALLED : YES
[0004.99] Log: Checking DLC installation for ../../XcomGame/Mods/StopWastingMyTime ...
[0004.99] Log: IS INSTALLED : YES

If you are installing mods into XCOM 2 WOTC, folders will be different!
