Am I wrong or is it impossible to use the Ninja Rope effectively without a game pad?

I've been watching YouTube vids trying to figure out why I can't do basic things and I see players using the rope to fling themselves across the screen, something that seems impossible to do with a keyboard,

However, the game gets great reviews and I don't see any complaints about it in here, so there either must be a way to do it on keyboard or a way to use a game pad (which I don't see).

Unfortunately neither of those tell you how to actually do it, they just tell you that you can. I need to know the exact keys. I understand it takes practice, I don't even know which ones to press.. Is it a combination of going up and down the rope, pushing left, pushing right? I've tried going left/right left/right, jumping, speed tapping one directing, going up and down. Nothing.

What I don't get is why you need something that takes so much practice on the FIRST MISSION!?!?

Hey man. Still wanna learn how to properly use ninja rope? There's bunch of us to help you around.. Important is to know the basics, then it's just practice from that point. Once you know what and when to do, you'll get addicted. Reply here if you see this msg, so we can arrange something.
