Okay, I'll give it a shot. I'll let you know how it turns out. TQ!
Hi People. I'm new to the forum. I love the old Wolfentein 3D. Problem is, will it run on Win 10. I've tried downloading Dosbox without success. Anyone that can help me out. It would be greatly appreciated for any info on how to play it on Win 10.

Hey there,

I'm trying to compile Chocolate Wolfenstein 3D (it's the closest to the original) to use in macOS but I don't know what data files does the GOG release have - can anyone confirm if it's any of these?

Wolf3d Full v1.1 Apogee (with ReadThis)
Wolf3d Full v1.4 Apogee (with ReadThis)
Wolf3d Full v1.4 GT/ID/Activision
Wolf3d Shareware v1.0
Wolf3d Shareware v1.1
Wolf3d Shareware v1.2
Wolf3d Shareware v1.4
Spear of Destiny Full and Mission Disks
Spear of Destiny Demo

I need this since the build is different depending on what data files are.

ATM whenever I run the app with the GOG release data I get this message:
"Chocolate Wolfenstein 3D was not compiled for these data files:
vgahead.wl6 contains a wrong number of offsets (150 instead of 162)!"

Edit: here are MD5 checksums for the data files.

$ md5 *.WL6
MD5 (AUDIOHED.WL6) = a41af25a2f193e7d4afbcc4301b3d1ce
MD5 (AUDIOT.WL6) = 2385b488b18f8721633e5b2bdf054853
MD5 (CONFIG.WL6) = aa75133df873b660d2058425ca8539b3
MD5 (GAMEMAPS.WL6) = a4e73706e100dc0cadfb02d23de46481
MD5 (MAPHEAD.WL6) = b8d2a78bc7c50da7ec9ab1d94f7975e1
MD5 (VGADICT.WL6) = dec8939cff5a4ec27ae7b43e8f52ec28
MD5 (VGAGRAPH.WL6) = 8b40b5b785f898e229bf1c2f2e3ee003
MD5 (VGAHEAD.WL6) = 8e75e3ffb842ed3d08abe6ffea97b231
MD5 (VSWAP.WL6) = b8ff4997461bafa5ef2a94c11f9de001

Cheers!

*** Edit 2: ***

Looks like it's something with the build - opening the .app bundle doesn't work, but opening the executable inside it directly does.

DOSBox works fine for me on Windows 10. However, I choose to play the Wolf3D games using the ECWolf source port.

Ghostbreed: I'm a bit rusty on ECWolf. But when I last used it, it didn't matter where you put it.
As long as you've played the original games at least once, ECWolf will find the files on your HDD and will give you a little neat box where you can chose what Wolf3D game you want to play.

Crosmando: I notice that inside the SoD directory there is three folders: M1, M2 and M2, presumably each mission from the game. Is it necessary to setup ECWolf individually for each mission?

My EC Wolf works fine with Wolf 3D but when I try to run it with Spear of Destiny, my Norton AV "manually" quarantines it even though it knows it is safe. It is just a copy of the file used for Wolf3D and Norton leaves that one alone.

There isn't even an option to make it stop so I have to keep restoring it and going nowhere.

Weird. You do get the list at startup giving you the choice between Wolf 3D, Spear of Destiny, and the mission packs, right?

No I don't. I've recently found out that I do with the Steam one, but it has to be the Wolf 3D shortcut otherwise I get the same problem. As for the GOG one, I must have an older build of ECwolf. I can always try again and see.

My version is 1.3.2 X86.

Try a development build. http://devbuilds.drdteam.org/ecwolf/
