Many monns ago, I owned the CD version of RTCW and was able to play run and gun with cheats enabled when I wanted to let off some steam.

sadly I lost the disk - saw this on GOG and was wondering if the cheat function can be enabled with the +set sv_cheats 1 entered into the target field of the game shortcut.

Then bringing down the console in game you could turn on god mode, notarget mode, etc

Can someone get back to me if this works on the GOG version please?

No. This doesn't work. You can't change the value of sv_cheats. If you start a new game, sv_cheats gets turned to 0. BUT: If you save the game, go back to the menu and then load the game again, sv_cheats gets automatically set to 1. It doesn't matter what you do, unless you start a new game, cheats will always be enabled.

You mean, save the game, exit and then re-load the save game? Or do you mean restart the whole game from the beginning ?

Go back to the main menu. You don't need to restart the executable.

If you start a new game, cheats are disabled. If you load a game, cheats are enabled.
