Specifially in regards to the aftermath of a completed fight, is it worth providing medical assistance to any NPC allies who happen to be in the vacinity during any particular fight? I appreciate that any help they receive from the party during combat will help that particular fight, but what about fights that may occur after that current fight is over?

I had a fight with some weeds in Trynton, and several allies were also involved, as they happened to be nearby at the time. During combat I noticed one got poisoned, and so I helped it by casting cure poison and heal wounds on it. Unfortunately, it died after the fight was over and won. At this point in time, the ally group numbers were reduced from 3 to 2, but would this loss be long term, or would the killed ally return/spawn back at some point in time in the future? If the loss is permanent, I would be more obliged to help them, but if the loss is temporary (if so, roughly for how long?), then I would be less bothered by any casualties. Thanks a lot for any comments.

any one with a name = heal them ... shop owners are top of this list
other mob = up to you because yes you get more as time goes on but they also help you in the next fight... on the other hand they may drop some nice loot?
One other thing:

Cast Heal Wounds at the "8th" (auto-recast) power level on an NPC, and the spell will be repeatedly cast at level 1 until the target is healed. This is good for raising your spellbook and Divine realm skills, particularly at lower skill levels.

(Note that this needs to be done after combat, not during combat.)

Another thing (involving a situation that only some players will encounter):

If the friendly creature is actually a former enemy under Turncoat status, be aware that the creature will turn hostile as soon as the effect wears off, so you might not want to heal the creature in that situation. (Note that this can only happen if you are actually using Turncoat or Prismatic Spray/Chaos, or items that cast such spells, or if an insane enemy hits another enemy with Turncoat (can that happen?), or if an enemy's Turncoat backfires.)
