dunkf2000: Thanks for the patch guys! The video now looks great!

Unfortunately I've got a couple of problems. It recognises my joystick but the up/down axis seems reversed, then when I land the mouse control freezes and I can't move the cursor and have to shut down the game. These problems don't occur on the unpatched version.

Apologies if this has already been answered, I couldn't see this problem when I looked at all the threads.
This apparently happens sometimes, although the cause is not easy to pin down. Still, i'm working on a tweak that should help with this issue, if all goes well i'll be able to tell you more in a couple of days.
Started a thread about this.

Well, this is unpleasant. The vanilla version straight off gog runs terribly with all the issues this patch fixes, but my joystick only works with that version; for some reason the game doesn't detect it when I'm running from DARKFIX.EXE. I've tried copying over my settings from DARK.CFG to DARK.FIX after setting up my joystick but that doesn't help.

I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and running the patched version under Win95 compatibility. Would anyone have any suggestions?
Hello! I could need some help to get Darkfix to run properly. The game seems to run pretty stable with Darkfix but it is locked at 25 FPS for some reason. The Dos Version is not. I have no idea, what's going on with it.

I have the same exact problem with the Logitech Attack3 stick. Please help.

::UPDATE::

Figured it out! In the Control Panel, I searched 'joystick'. It returned some options under the header 'Devices and Printers'. Selecting 'Set up USB game controllers' fixed my problem (I made my Attack3 the primary/default controller).

I have Windows 8.1, FYI. Also, curiously, I can't find the above option anywhere via searching CP.

I have windows 7 64 bits, installed the game, installed patch and always got to the end of one or another cinematic where a black screen would force me to shut down the program through task manager.
I tried different compatibility modes and as someone suggested xp sp3 worked further than the rest, but still got a black screen after the traveling transitions.
Tried patch 2, runned it's setup, no better luck, but then i re installed patch 1 and worked perfectly on xp sp3 comp mode.

Just my experience, wouldn't know why it worked but it did :D
Thanks for this patch Mbrito!!! This patch makes the game MUCH nicer. I have a question however.

I'm running on a WinXP Pro SP3 system. Is the only reason to run in Win95 compatibility mode to be able to hear the in space music?

The reason I ask is when I run in compatibility mode, I notice a few issues. The opening screen graphic/logo tears, the booth system is slower and choppier, etc.. The game runs much smoother if I don't run in compatibility mode, so if all I lose is the music, that's fine with me.

DocDave: The patch works and I can play using my joystick and keyboard. The only thing is when I try to end the game by using alt-x and then hit y my computer freezes. I need to shut it down and reboot.

If I play using DOS box the +/- keys don't work. All the other do. :(
Any way to get the speed commands working? + / - doesn't work for me either. Got all other controls functioning well, but for some reason, these two won't!

Other than that, it is fantastic and good to have this game back, so thanks to the patch team and to GOG for reliving it!
I can't get any keyboard commands working in game at all :(

Downloaded ffrom GOG... first time I've had this problem with a dos box game, but litterally no keyboard response at all, which makes it unplayable, (can't even dock, let alone jump...). Installed DARKFIX and while the video is better, still have the keyboard problems...

...am running Win 7 Pro 64, on an Intel i7 alienware laptop

Well, I got my keyboard working. Had to uninstall both the game and patch, but kept the short-cut. When it started this time it worked.

Also, pressing Ctrl and F1 at the same time brings up the bind command screen, which will allow you to rebind keys, but only if it can detect those keys in the first place.

had to run the game in Win 98 compatibility mode (The Darkfix exe)
I'm unable to run this patch at all.

It flashes a black screen and then nothing, it also leaves a black trail over all of my open windows.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1, I've tried all compatibility options and it doesn't make a difference it still crashes. There's nothing in the windows event log either.

My CPU is a AMD Phenom II X4 at 2.66 GHz, Deneb. And I am running 8 GB of RAM.

I'm also running a Radeon HD 6870 graphics card, here are the catalyst details:

Software:
Driver Packaging Version 9.012-121219a-154961C-ATI
Catalyst Version 13.1

Memory Size 1024 MB
Memory Type GDDR5
Core Clock in MHz 900 MHz
Memory Clock in MHz 1050 MHz
Total Memory Bandwidth in GByte/s 134.4 GByte/s

I also had changed the two lines in DARK.FIX to reflect the drive I had installed Privateer 2 under, so I know it's not that.

Has there been any more developments on this unofficial patch and is there anything I can do to get it to work that doesn't involve me messing around with catalyst drivers?

EDIT: I get the following in dwrap_debug.txt:
Initializing... mode = 0, win = 0, bits8 = 00000000, bits16 = 00000000, pal8 = 00000000, pal16 = 00000000

It also appears when I go into darkfix_setup it doesn't list anything under display, I wouldn't know a thing about what's going on but it appears this ddraw wrapper is seriously confused.

I'm having many problems with this patch.
The videos are good, no interlace. But when I get to Sinner's Inn, I have no mouse, no keyboard commands, except Alt-
X to exit. If I hit my right mouse button, either "Talk to Bartender" or "Exit Sinner's Inn" shows up, but I can't select either. I've tried using buttons on my Logitech Rumble pad, and the mouse, also tried using spacebar on the keyboard while either location showed up. Nothing. I am totally unable to select anything ingame.

I've tried setting compatibility to Win 95, Win 98 and Win XP none of which seem to affect the problem.

I'm running an AMD Phenom II processor with 4 gig ram, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.
Radeon 4950 video card. Not the best, but acceptable and shouldn't be causing these problems.

My keyboard and mouse are both wireless. Not sure that has anything to do with it but I thought I'd mention it.

I had the same problem, and the darkfix_setup.exe has it's own issues. ANyway to get P2 to actually run, try editing dark.fix in notepad and change the first two entries from C to the drive letter P2 is installed. Assuming its installed to another location other than C:
The patch has been updated! Check out the changes here:

Thanks for the update.
