Go to your GAMEDAT folder usually located by this path C:\GOG Games\Wing Commander 1 and 2\WC\GAMEDAT\. Then look for file names SAVEGAME or CRUSADE with the file extension WLD. When you find the on you want to use copy it to your WC2 folder. It should see it. I tested and it worked. I hope this helps.

Hello,

My solution is very simmilar

IN THE WC2 FOLDER CREATE A NEW FOLDER CALLED

WC

COPY YOUR WC1 SAVEGAME.WLD, OR FOR SM2 CRUSADE.WLD FILE TO THE NEW WC FOLDER(in WC2 folder)

WHAN ASKED FOR THE FILE PATH GIVE IT AS

C:\WC

sometimes it may take several trys to get it to work ( at least it does for me) but it does work.
Ok i try this too....

Thanks

I have tried both options you listed. And it will not find it at all. In my case I have tied both the regular wing commander save file and the Crusade save file. I have copied the contents of the game into a folder named wc2. I am typing the command C:\wc2 I have the file in the base folder not in gamedat, however I have also tried it with it located there as well.
On Macs the savefiles are actually kept seperate, in Boxer\Gamebox States\com.gog.wing-commander and com.gog.wing-commander-2.

Maybe search for a folder titled "Gamebox States"?

Hi, I know this is an old thread and nearly a year old post, I had the same problem for ages but found a solution.

To start off, from windows go into your C Drive and rename the directories your Wing Commander games are in to C:\gog\wing and C:\gog\wing2 (You can just omit the "gog" subfolder if you want or change it to any suitably short directory name). This will make things easier later since DOS games didn't like long directory names.

To transfer your pilot to Wing Commander 2 do not launch it using the desktop icon. Launch DOSBox separately, type Mount C C:\ and press enter, it will tell you that's not recommended, but it's fine, just do it.. Now find and load Wing Commander 2 as you would in MS-DOS (type cd c:\gog\wing2 then hit Enter to change to that directory then WC2 Enter to load Wing Commander 2), you should now be able to transfer your pilot from Wing Commander, Secret Missions or Secret Missions II: Crusade from the C:\gog\wing\gamedat directory.

The problem is if you launch it from the desktop icon DOSBox only mounts the Wing Commander 2 directory so when you try to transfer that way DOSBox can't see the Wing Commander directories you type in for it. Doing it manually is a bit more laborious, but since you mount the whole C Drive DOSBox can then see all the appropriate directories. Hope this helps.
