Right now it's stuck at 24 fps, I would like to get it up to 30 fps, minimum. I tried speeding up the cycles by pressing control F12 but the frame rate is still stuck at 24, lowering the graphical settings didn't help, either. I'm running an i5 3570k, and gtx 670, so my rig is more than capable.

Anyone know how I can increase my frame rates? 24 is just too choppy for me.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how GOG confgured WC3 in Dosbox, but if it already isn't set core=dynamic, it makes most 3D games run a lot smoother.
Also output=suface is said to be the fastest display mode, although I don't notice much difference in performance between output modes myself.
Keep in mind that these are old games, from a time period when 24fps was considered good performance.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the fps remained the same. I'm almost positive you could get 30fps in WC3, you just needed a "state of the art" pentium 90mhz processor. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Only thing other I can think of is setting cycles=max, but since WC3 is a protected mode game changing cycles doesn't do much and you can also try priority=highest, normal.

If I were you I would ask this question to GOG support or on VOGONS, that's where the Dosbox devs reside.
Hi!

Small bump, I played the game on a K6-III+ 400 MHz today and the frame rate is capped / locked at 24 fps. I don't see a way to get more. Doesn't matter if you play it in VGA or 640 x 480 high resolution, 24 fps is all it will do.

Heh-Heh. It's a miracle - nobodys eyes bled out back then ;-D

Here's to 144 pictures per second & same with Hz

(sigh) getting old... didn't even follow the 120Hz craze when CRTs

NOW? just :-/
Other games from that era like X-Wing Alliance are similarly capped at a low (by modern standard) FPS. However, Alliance actually seems fairly smooth by some trickery (and I play on a 144 hz 1440p monitor).
