I wanted to buy this on GoG and gift it to a few friends but it seems incomplete. All the feedback here indicates its a dead game. I'll pass, such a pity, looked like fun to play.

The thing is that it's not.. the devs have released another recent patch on Steam but for whatever reason refuse to update the GOG version and just feed constant bs when called on it... if they bother to respond at all

Soz, I meant a dead game on GoG. I generally go for the GoG version if its out on both platforms. Lack of support for the GoG version would stop me buying on Steam. I want to feel that the Devs are consistant across the board. Its insincere not to keep both updated. I'd rather they removed it from GoG than serve up a dogs dinner.

That would probably mean a lot of cleanup across the GOG catalog, but I'd also prefer that.
Hey look who finally hauled ass (8th Feb 2019? Yeah that's the original release date, not on GOG)...

How can a singleplayer game be 'dead'?
Albeit a little late, I see that the DLC is available on GoG now and has been for some time, it seems. So I've bought it. Good Job!

Sadly, the devs of any game are rarely consistant regarding upkeep across platforms. They feel they have a better audience on Steam. I'm like you; I prefer to buy here. I'm frankly sick and tired of Steam. They've gotten too big for their britches. I think the DRM is a turn-off for some of the products on here. I was also going to buy this here, but since it is not being maintained here, I don't see a reason to spend the money here, although it's a nice sale price over here.

As of this post now at November 13th, 2022, it looks as though West of Loathing is completely up to date with the Steam version and the DLC is also in the GOG store as well. There was a recent update to the steam version of this game in March 2nd 2022 but the update was mainly for the game to be compatible with the Steam Deck and nothing else. I would say that it's safe to purchase this game as of right now.
