So, I've the latest version from GoG installed, ver. 2.3.0.5, and it runs fine, but other games are detected by Nvidia GeForce Experience app and Nvidia lists Wasteland 2 DC as being compatible with GeForce Experience. Potentially, the likely reason for that is the version of the game is not the latest version of the game recognized by the Nvidia drivers...

Since I've had other GoG games that often don't get updated to the final version that Steam did, does anyone know whether the Steam version is more recent? If it is, does anyone know when the GoG version will get patched?

Geforce Experience support was for Wasteland 2.
They (Nvidia) never bothered to review and created a profile for Wasteland 2 Director's Cut (which is another game).

According to Nvidia, Wasteland 2 DC is supported. I've also seen my buddy's shadowplay recordings of Director's Cut, which would require Geforce Experience to identifiy the game.

strangely, that profile never worked with my copy, I was "forced" to do the configuration manually, that is why I though they never cared.

I've just heard back from that same buddy that the last update for Wasteland 2 DC was for the Steam edition, and only added Steam achievements. This, of course, confirms my suspicions and means that the GoG version is now "out of date" and unrecognized by GeForce Experience drivers.

No big surprise (but at least I'm not crazy), Nvidia is only the wife of Steam, not of Gog.

Is not that bad, after all Steam is the reason that Nvidia pass from a obfuscated-hater of Linux to a lover and supportive friend who "NEVER" would never be the target of Linus Trovalds' hate ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVpOyKCNZYw )

IMHO, this is more an issue of dev's preferring to release updates to Steam rather than DRM-free distributors, and not an issue with Nvidia. Nvidia works with the dev's not the distributors, and their drivers are tuned to recognize only the latest version of a game, and that info comes from the dev's. Even though InXile stated they would fully support the DRM-Free release on their Kickstarter, we have a different final version here on GoG than Steam. Trine went the same way, with a more recent version number on Steam than here on GoG, which makes cross-play with customers from different distributors impossible. This is solely the fault of the dev's.

P.S.: That video is so old and over-used. LOL

Are we sure this is the way Nvidia operates with the GeForce Experience ? Because always that I searched, was referenced to things like this: "GeForce Experience uses the power of the NVIDIA cloud data center to provide optimal settings tailored to your PC". Honestly, seems more a manual work that will be done only for those game with certain status (and probably give extra money to them) than a direct dialogue with devs (Except by the part of money). I could be totally wrong as truly never had too much interest on this thing.

If were something with open dialogue, more games from Steam would have support in the GeForce Experience.

Oh yes, but is a good reflex of what was Nvidia in the past, and how the market changed since then. And that was the point of my comment..

Yes, in one of the trouble shooting things I had read, it stated that the most likely reason that a supported game is not recognized my GFE is because it's not been updated to the latest version.

There are only a few dozen people that Nvidia has tweaking game settings, and it's well known that they make mistakes, e.g., Borderlands The Presequel has the wrong profile assigned to it for 3DVision. If a dev want's Nvidia GeForce to ID their game they have to contact them about it, ensure that their game meets certain criteria, i.e., not a sex game, compatible with a wide variety of GFX cards, and then provide Nvidia with a detailed list of how their game works graphically. As you might imagine, some dev's, especially Indie's, simply don't care to do so much extra work.

Interestingly enough, even some games that say, "Gaming Evolved - AMD" have been ID'd by GeForce Experience, meaning that the dev's went through all of that to do so.

Hi MasterZoen, sorry by my delay, I just want to say thanks by all this info, I didn't know how was the work behind the GeForce Experience.
No problem, I'm always happy to help another person learn.
Okay, so, I finally found some info about ShadowPlay that may have been affecting this since I have several games that don't get detected for optimization by GeForce Experience but can still be recorded by ShadowPlay.

From GeForce Experience FAQ:
Q: What games are supported by ShadowPlay?
A: ShadowPlay supports all DirectX 9, 10, and 11 based games. In desktop mode, OpenGL games running in a window is also supported.

So, I remembered that my buddy who had recorded videos of Wasteland 2 DC ALWAYS plays his games in a borderless window that sits on top of everything and captures his desktop in the recording...

I'll try recording desktop mode and see if that works.

Edit: Yep, it worked. Just by enabling "Allow Desktop Capture" on the ShadowPlay tab under Preferences in GeForce Experience I was able to record some gameplay of Wasteland 2 Director's Cut, even with the game's setting option "Fullscreen" enabled. So, while I'm pretty sure that only the Steam version gets detected for settings, at least I can still record the game.

Edit 2: Incidentally, this has also allowed me to record footage of doom, which for some reason is not being detected by ShadowPlay, but is detected for optimization by GeForce Experience.
