The best you can do is press CTRL+X to minimize the game. That’s what I do, and works.

Yeah, it's a shame that apparently the game doesn't support windowed mode at all, and I am having issues with its resolution is being stretched on my 29" ultrawide monitor. Multi-screening the game would only crop it as well...
There is a dxcfg.exe in game's folder when you can set display mode and other stuff.

For example I play the game in 1920x1200 display mode with aspect ratio correction and integer scaling (game itself is set to 800x600) for big crisp pixels :)
I remember playing this game in window mode on xp back in the day. Forget how
I figured out a solution. Create a shortcut to the darklord application in the installation folder. Then add "-wincursors" to the target line, like this:

"F:\gog games\Warlords 3\Darklord.exe" -wincursors

Change dxcfg display mode to a different mode; I chose 1024 x 768 and chose the same option in-game.
