I remember playing Warlords 3 ages ago and it had videos featuring main villain when starting the game and they seem to be missing in the game.

Same here. My memory didnt failed me. I had remains about the little videos and no, they are not shown in my installation neither. I have looked into the game folder and they appear to be there, some smk files named like the campaigns, but they are not playing.
Yes, the videos are there but the GOG team didn't hook them up- so only the opening video plays!
I had Warlords 3: Reign of Heroes as a kid, and that had the Lord Bane videos pop up. But Darklords Rising, which is the expanded version of Reign of Heroes, didn't have those videos pop up. So maybe GOG is being faithful!

I have both Warlords III games - Reign of heroes & Darklords Rising - The Videos you are refering to are in the Reign of Heroes only.
I still play the Darklords Rising with the original disk on an XP laptop. No main villain videos. GOG did not omit anything as far as I can tell. (I played a couple of quick games and i did not see anything missing)
Kudos to GOG!!!!
Damn. It is a pity. It was one of the best parts :)
Darklords Rising has videos though. As seen at the end of this video:

Gudadantza is right that the videos are included in the installation as .SMK files, but somehow not used in the game. The videos from the Banewars campaign are also included.

I guess we could work around that by minimizing the game and watch these SMK files every time we finish a campaign mission.
I believe he was talking about the talking Skull appearing from time to time in ROH. I know about the video you are talking about. The Talking Skull does not appear in DLR.
Wow, there are a BUNCH of .smk video files here but none of them appear ingame. Is there any way to fix this?
I contacted support and they seemed to be unaware of this issue, so I can only assume that video is supposed to be there. Have any of you had any luck getting video to work ingame?
I will have to check my disc version of W3:DL, but I do not recall the videos being there. For sure the intro was gone and there were no videos during the play. Maybe there were videos between the missions in Bane wars campaign.

Definitely w3:RH had more videos. And also had a different soundtrack. Therefore, I would love it if gog could provide us with w3:RH in addition to w3:DL.
There is no intro video in Darklords Rising. There wasn't on the original CD either. Just the short leader that shows Red Orb Entertainment and SSG's logo's, followed by the game's title.

The short .SMK video's in some of the campaigns are not on the original 1998 CD I have. They are included with this GOG version though. It looks like GOG dropped in an additional BANESDEM, DRAKDUM, and BANEREVG folder containing the videos.

[edit]
Actually, the .SMK video's and the above folders are on the CD. They just don't install along with the gamefiles.

In the Banewars campaign there was a small cinematic that plays after each mission. I am wondering if it needs to play off the CD. I watched a streamer that did not get the cinematic with GoG version, however some older youtubes show the cinematics playing. I have the old boxed copy however my new computer no longer has a cd drive..picked up the GoG version so will have to see what happens for me.
Hopefuly GoG can get those cinematics working if need be.
EDIT: I meant to say Banes Revenge not Banewars.

One of the reasons why I still play with the original cd on my DELL WIN XP Laptop (have backup cd copies also).

The question is are these guys playing Warlords: Reign of Heroes or Warlords: Darklords Raising. I know that cinematics where present in the former, but not sure if they were also present in the latter.

What I do remember is that in Reign of Heroes during Banewar campaign at the beginning of your turn there would be short cinematics of Lord Bane taunting the player. And those were for sure missing in Darklords Raising.
