Does anyone know how to add user made scenarios? I have a bunch from my old days of playing W2Deluxe on my 486 Packard Bell. In the old days we would run Install.exe, pick the new scenario there, and it would be installed to the game. But Intsall.exe will not work on a 64 bit system.

Now from the Launch Icon I can pick option 2 - Game Dos Settings. This brings up an option to use the Librarian. I think this is what we used in the old days to add scenarios. But I cannot use it to find my scenarios. We use to just put the new Scenarios in the game's base folder. But from the new Librarian I cannot find it! It lets me navigate to C:\, D:\, and Z:\. The Librarian does not see any of the folders I have on the first two drives, and of course I don't have a Z drive. It does see Warlords 2 Deluxe on C and D. But it does not show my scenarios on either, and so I cannot select them.

Does anyone know how to get this to work and add user made scenarios?

Okay, I fiddled some more. I can start a Dosbox window, and mount my Warlords2 folder as a drive. Then I can switch to that drive in Dosbox, and run Install.exe from there. This time I can see the .scz files of the new scenarios. I can select them, and click on Unpack. This brings up a window with half a dozen check boxes to unpack things like cities, armies, etc... But they are all greyed out except for Delete file after unpacking. I can just go ahead and click the Unpack button, but it does not do anything. Interestingly enough, if I select Delete, it will delete the .scz file however.

You probably have old Warlord 2 scenarios with .szp. The newer Warlords 2 Deluxe uses .scz. In the GAME folder should be "convert exe".

Run a command prompt then type
convert.exe xxxx.szp

ie

convert.exe DRACO.szp
should convert it to DRACO.scz

Lbrarian then can see it

I do have them all as .scz files. I never had the original Warlords 2, only Warlords 2 Deluxe.
Ok, I just figured it out.

Copy your scenario files into your base Warlords 2 Deluxe folder.

Start the game as normal, and select Option 2 - Game Dos Settings. From there start the Librarian.

It opens up with two panes showing folders and files. Go to the Right side pane, and scroll all the way down. Toward the bottom you will see all the .scz files for new scenarios.

Select each and unpack it. It will pre-select all the checkboxes for armies, maps, etc... that are appropriate to unpack for that scenario.

After that, the scenarios will be there when you start the game.

Glad you figured it out, a simple fix!

If you have scenarios not available anywhere else IE http://www.heeter.net/warlords/scenarios/
maybe you could post / upload them somewhere
Yes, time for a Warlords 2 Renaissance!

I've just followed this guide and the Librarian crashes after it starts the unpacking. It does manage to unpack 2 files, but I cannot see the scenario when I start the game. Do you have any suggestions for troubleshooting this?

I have both XP on another computer and Win 8.1 64 bit. Yes, the librarian crashes for me too on 8.1 but seems fine on XP.

Some people though do not seem to have trouble with the Librarian, but I do not know what OS they are using. Macafee antivirus gives me problems with some programs but I have not been certain if it is this on the Win 8.1.

If you have access to Win XP even in a virtual machine, you might try that as sucess is certain. You also might try safemode, I have NOT tried that yet.

I got it working. I set compability to XP service pack 2 and running it as administrator. Thanks for the tip :)
