Asgerwyrtz: ok but now there is a new problem the game runs fine but if i change my screen options then the mouse doesnt work in the game i can move with my mouse but i cant click on campaign or nothing
avatar
Gudadantza: alt tab to desktop and return to game could resolve it. at least It corrected for me. But I have noticed that the most stable way to run the game without any mouse problem in my computer is running the game at desktop resolution windowed,
ok my mouse still doesnt show up in the game everytime when i change to windowed mode it is very wierd that the game doesnt work in windowed mode it only works on fullscreen but it sometime crashes on fullscreen and i have the game on cd and i have no problems at all when running from the cd on win 10 ..

I would delete, and then reinstall the game & turn off any antivirus program you may have. Also try to change your screen resolution when the game starts.
I play tested the game on my ALIENWARE WIN10 Laptop and had no problems. The game plays fine for me(Warlords III)
Good luck!

Have the music issues been reported to GOG?
Windows 10

I've bought it yesterday. Game launches and plays fine, no crashes, no problems, music OK. Map scrolling is quite jerky, but it probably was the same back in the days.

Try to change your screen resolution. That might eliminate the crushes.
I tried and either get crashes or freezes. Whenever I choose campaign, random game or a scenario there is a crash sooner or later. Game also tells me I'm low in hhd space :/ 180 GB of free space.

Yesterday It showed the message of low memory for me too. It didnt happened before. But the game runs well.
In any case the message seems to dissapear if the game executable is marked as windows 98 compatibility mode. If I am not wrong that compatibility forces running the games with one core, it can be convenient in a so ancient windows game. It could prevent crashes.

The other options I have marked are:

Desktop resolution
Windowed
Method of scaling Fill the screen
Aspect correction on
Gamma and the other ones let the app decide

Except the aspect correction that options are the options by default when you install the gog game and run it.

And the game is stable with no crashes.
Ingame, from the launching menu I prefer 800x600 resolution and the game scales perfectly to my monitor 1366x768, but any of the three are functional.

I played for almost three hours. Wow, what a game :)

No issues so far and no need to decrease the resolution. Only requirement - game has to be launched manually by darklord.exe with win XP compatibility.

Every time I lanunched the game by using GOG Galaxy client I was getting aforementioned crashes.

athineos: ... turn off any antivirus program you may have. ...
Never turn off your virus protection!
I don't know why people are recommending to do this. I've been playing computer games under AV protection for more than 20 years, and never encountered one game which crashed while AV was on, but worked when AV was off (I tried it a couple of times in the early years).
There were games my AV program complained about - then there was a message stating why, and I could make up my mind to either accept the complaint and to not play the game, or to tell the AV program to let the game run. You may also contact the developers of such a game and request that they do something about the issue.
But turning off virus protection globally for your whole PC has the potential to open a Pandora's box of virus and Trojan attacks, and very likely doesn't help your game running. Also, if AV sees an issue with a game, then it puts the files it has an issue with in quarantine, and you have no chance to use them without restoring them first.
Once again: Tell AV to let your game run, if AV tells you that it has an issue with the game and you think it is acceptable for you to ignore the warning, but never turn off AV completely!

I get this message, too. It means that the game checks your PC for sufficient disk space, and doesn't interpret the values correctly. Just ignore it.
Is there a way to prevent the message from appearing whenever the game starts?

choosing windows compatibility windows98/me makes the message dissapear, but It is not an ideal solution . I have tested the game and I can say that it runs better for me with no compatibility checked. But maybe it can be different in other computers.

Kelefane: How do they run out of the box? Any issues?
I have a Windows 10 x64 PC and so far everything works great! I was utterly shocked when GOG released this because I had tried several of the attempted ways to install W3:DLR and none worked. But GOG's works like a charm so far and you can use Molotov's Darklords Editor, the NUT additional units, hero classes etc.

Ignore this. It is an ancient error for W3 because back when it was coded and released having 200 MB HDs were a thing. We have always ignored this message (and by "we" I mean those of us in the Warlorders community so-to-speak).
