https://www.gog.com/forum/general_de/sammelthread_zu_deutschmods_und_sprachpatches_fur_spiele_die_hier_nur_auf_englisch_erhaltlich_sin/post2001

So I can't quite tell but it looks like people are sharing links for the German translation? Personally I don't think GOG cares as long as you don't share the full game (assuming you can incorporate the translation into GOG's version), ie make sure the files shared still require a copy of the game to run. And I'm sure GOG would love to add whatever translations they can (more people will buy, more money), but legal issues are holding them back.

Nah it doesnt have anything to do with legal issues as much as it's just a pain to do. GoG's goal is to release as many games as possible. War2 is just one of them. They are not going to put a lot of effort into a quality release because it cuts out time they could spend making releases of new old games. If you need/want the German translations, you can get it here: http://en.war2.ru/downloads/

Would be nice if war2.ru offered the Unit Sounds as separate audio data as the gog version does. This way it would also be possible to just take them and insert them into the GoG Version.
Still english text but thats not too bad in my eyes.

The easiest way is to extract the whole Gamesfx folder from war2dat.mpq archive.
And then to pack them back into your custom build.

If you need english hotkeys, you can set a checkbox during the installation process. Unfortunately that hotkey file contains also many english words, so the build will be halfly english. (Need help from some german-spoken player to rewrite that file: english hotkeys with german strings).

I really have no idea why you need the game with german voices, but with english texts.
Not sure that will make some sence for community...
Let me know if i'm wrong?

Already explained why. The sounds are great and in my "ears" simply better than the english ones. I dont have any problem reading or understanding english, its a matter of feeling and quality to play the game, not to understand it at all.
The sounds arent needed to understand the game anyway, so i dont see any reason to stick to english voices in terms of "translation" purposes. None of the character in the game has anything to say. Like at all. Thats solely a WC3 thing.
And why would i wait for an official language support if all i need is the voicepack of the units and maybe the narration for missions?

In short, i dont need german sounds to understand the game and sounds are of NO importance for a translation to be able to understand the game or its content. Its because the voices are absolutely great.

Hey guys, not from German-speaking country, but just wanted to notify you that they've added German (audio & text) to this release, in case you didn't notice :)
