Been trying to get this game to work correctly and now I am out of ideas. I am using window 10. I have gone on their support page and did what some of the steps do such as use xxx in compatible mode. Tried opening up the ports 6112-6119 and nothing. So at the moment just waiting for someone on GoG support to try an assist me. Anyone has encountered and fixed this problem be greatly appreciated.

I don't think i can help you with GoG war2, but you can try War2Combat. This is unofficial build of war2, but it has much more active development team who tries to fix all that problems for all users and computers.
It has several specific fixes espesially for win10.

U use latest stable update build?
it seems that Microsoft bring another bug ehm... security update for Win10 few times ago. Try rename ddraw dll and start game directly from exe (old Bnet version, not a dx).

I think error happened while downloading.
Try to download it again.
Or try standardl version (with no music and videos). 45 Mb instead of 445Mb.

Just deleted it. Could not recreate that nostalgia feeling from years ago.

unfortunately, doesnt help me - the game crashes without error message anyway... If I run it as administrator at least I hear 2 short sounds (it tries to start), but then crashes anyway...
any way how to fix it? Thanks

Это уже наверное более "общая" проблема, когда игры открываются и молча закрываются... Ну как молча - в Журнал ошибок Windows все равно запись вносится, а в AppData\Local\Dumps добавляется текстовый лог ошибки.

Если гугл не поможет (включение Legacy DirectPlay, например), то следует попробвоать орбатиться в саппорт - лучше Microsoft Answers.
Проверьте статьи по играм Blizzard на сайте поддержки GOG. Посмотертите сис.требования - у Вас актуальная стабильная сборка Windows 10 Pro (Home - мусор)?

I found a fix if you still need it. go to your advanced system settings; go to performance, and go to the DEP tab. set it to run except for excluded list and add both launchers to the list. This instantly fixed it for me and ive had no issues since then. Thank you Youtube for this fix which no one has posted in any forums ive found yet. spread the word!

Forgot to mention; when in advanced settings for your PC go to SETTINGS in performance. then go to data execution prevention and set it to add the exclusions for the 2 execution files. The reason for this is because they didnt turn off the damned DRM protection like they said they did.
