Nevermind. Figured it out.
In case anyone else is as network illiterate as I am, I'll quickly explain how to play Warcraft II against someone on another computer in your house on the same internet connection using Windows 10.
Basically, you just need to make sure that your internet connection is set to "Private."
-click on the Wifi icon at the bottom right corner of your screen
-click on the "Network and Internet settings" link at the bottom
-click on "Change connection properties"
-under "Network profile," make sure your connection is set to "Private" on both computers
Now, when playing multiplayer, choose "IPX Network Game," and the included IPX wrapper (which is in the Warcraft II folder immediately after installation) will do its magic automatically. After one player creates a game, the other should be able to see it as an option to "Join."
I'm sure I'm explaining something so simple that 99.99% of anyone who reads this will laugh. However, for anyone else who, like me, was confused by the need for a LAN connection and did not know if there was anything else to do to create an IPX network and spent hours thinking that an ethernet cable was involved somehow, here's the steps I took to make it work. I hope this helps others who aren't technologically savvy and just wanted a chance to live their childhood dreams and unleash bloodlusted ogres on their older brother.
