My game will begin launching... then crash... no error message. Nothing. Just back to the desktop.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I have the exactly same problem - trying it on Thinkpad T520 (integrated Intel graphics)

same issue. worked fine the past few days. all day today, I click play, it brings up launch screen, click on Warcraft 2 or classic and it crashes.

Same issue here since the last patch of windows 10. I tried to uninstall, change .dll, change dirextx option or run as an admin but nothing...

Im having the same issue myself, running Windows 10. I tried going to the help page and really didn't understand what they are talking about with the codec stuff. I tried running compatibility mode and still nothing. Any help on this issue would be great. I used to play this game as a kid and loved it. Not a big fan of the new WOW. Have always been a fan of this style of game. Another one Id like to see playable again is the Command and Conquer series.

Same problem - bought a while back. Been playing Warcraft 1 fine - savouring the game. Now I come to number 2 and it crashes on launch.

I am having the exact same issue. I've put many hours in the game previously where it worked fine, now it goes to a black screen before just closing itself.

I havent got problem with my orginal cd with windows 10 :P

I brought the issue to GOG support, and they recommended doing a Windows 10 Clean Boot Mode start.

1. Type MSC into the Search box.
2. Start the System Configuration app.
3. Select Diagnostic Startup.
4. Restart computer.

This immediately fixed the problem for me. And when I went back to the System Configuation app and reset it to Normal startup and rebooted, the game continued to work.

I'll have to see if something stops the game again, maybe then I'll have a better idea what it is.

Last night W10 was updated and the game start normally now. Issue solved for me
