A little confused.
The only thing that the Ultimate Edition does not include is the Worker Skin Collection. We didn't want to include this minor cosmetic addition and inflate the price of the pack for those who were not interested in that.

So yes all the gameplay expansions are included. :)

You should market the Ultimate Edition a little better considering it's cheaper and I dropped an extra 5$ on the "base" game and the DLCs. Not a big deal but still irritiating you have THREE versions on GOG compared to STEAM's one.
The listing of the Base Game, Underlord Edition and Ultimate Edition are to ensure parity with the Steam Store. If you note that the Steam Store does, in fact, have all three of these versions as Bundles. See the attached image to see how this looks.

As GOG does not have support for this form of in-line listing of Bundles on its store page we had to list them as separate products. Totally agree that it's not as intuitive or friendly and can lead to confusion for loyal GOG Customers.

The other option was to not offer the bundled editions and their associated discounts on the GOG Storefront. This wouldn't sit well with us as it would needlessly punish GOG users for their choice in store. Instead we opted to do whatever we can to ensure that whatever deals are offered on the Steam Side are present on GOG and vice versa, so no one feels they're getting a bum deal.

Hopefully in the future, as GOG continues to expand, improve and evolve we'll see additional options for publishers to offer deals in a more clear manner and we can do away with needlessly confusing SKUs.

It's unfortunate that in this case you were charged more than you may have needed to be. I wish I could do something to help you out on this because we certainly don't want players to be overcharged. My advice would be to reach out to GOG support and see if they can help you.

The complete edition actually has been replaced for each DLC release by a "more complete" edition, with a higher price to account for the extra content.
If you bought it before The Under Games release, it will not be included for free in your edition. But you bought your pack cheaper than what the current one costs.

So you don’t have access to The Under Games, but that’s because you didn’t pay for it ;)

Just some clarity on terminology surrounding the collections. Only the Ultimate Edition has even been branded as being "Complete" hence the term "Ultimate" I.e. Final.

The previous collections which were available was the Anniversary Collection before the Under Games released which included Heart of Gold and My Pet Dungeon and the Gold Edition which was the Heart of Gold Expansion. This bundle never released on GOG.

Largely these were always provided for parity with the bundles offered on Steam, so GOG customers aren't left out. The only difference between the ones here and on Steam are that the Steam ones allow you to purchase the missing content from a pack while gaining the pack's additional discount.

E.g. In this case if you owned the Anniversary Collection you'd be able to upgrade to the Ultimate edition simply by completing your bundle. Essentially you'd be able to get the under games with the extra 10% multiplicative discount provided by purchasing everything together.

It's unfortunate that this isn't an option on GOG, I'd love to see it. I agree it's a little bit confusing and could probably have been communicated better but we've never insinuated that the collections prior to the "Ultimate Edition" were "Complete". Generally we just want to be able to offer an additional discount on people willing to go all in on the game as a thank you for your up front support. :)

Right, bad wording choice on my part ;)

I planned to post the details like you did, but as I didn’t found anything about the Gold Edition in GOG history I didn’t want to post incomplete (ah ah) information. Especially I didn’t remember if the Anniversary Collection did include the Heart of Gold expansion or not.

No worries it's a pretty convoluted history as it took us several years for WFTO to arrive on GOG. Everything else you said was totally on the ball.

For reference:

Gold Edition (2016) = War for the Overworld + Underlord Edition + Heart of Gold

Anniversary Collection (2017) = War for the Overworld + Underlord Edition + Heart of Gold + My Pet Dungeon

Ultimate Edition (2018) = War for the Overworld + Underlord Edition + Heart of Gold + My Pet Dungeon + The Under Games

Each is priced at a level equal to adding up the individual unit price of each item within it and slashing 10% off the top.

That applies after any sale discounts to the individual items. So if everythings on sale it'd be like 10% off £12 rather than 10% off ~£40

We try to keep things in parity with Steam so users of both platforms can benefit from them. Unfortunately the only thing we can't do is that swish "Complete your bundle" feature on the Steam store. Be sure to upvote such a feature for GOG! :)
Hi there! Do GOG gamers who buy any of the War for the Overlord editions be able to buy the charity DLCs (Cynical Imp, Kickstarter Bundle, or Founders Bundle)? I looked up the FAQ at the Brightrock Games website about this. It says that we could, but I didn't see where we can purchase it? I know that it can be done at Steam. Thanks!

Hi Emerald_Child,

You can pick up the Cynical Imp Charity DLC directly from our site. The Humble Widgets there grant GOG codes as well. :)

We worked out with GOG it was easier for us to approach it this way rather than sell directly on the GOG website due to various backend factors. Essentially, we need to ensure none of the funds hit our bank account and instead go direct to the charity, humble has the perfect functionality for that.

Cheers,

Lee

Have you any idea how many times I’ve seen these Humble widgets, thinking it is a shame that they do not work with the GOG version of the game?
Of course, the GOG icon has been there all this time…

Bought it ;)

Thanks for clarifying things! I think GamesAid is a really great charity! I wish more game devs would do DLCs for charity in their own countries as well!
