The game starts and only one main menu choice is accessible ( campaign ).
The choices for ( crucible, sandbox, skirmish, multiplayer ) show an empty screen.
( The background changes, and no new menus or windows appear. )

I have completed both the campaign ( Main && Hart of Gold ) in a previous version of WFTO.

I have uninstalled, rebooted, purged the registry, rebooted, and reinstalled. Same thing again.

Note : Also installed all the DLCs at the same time ( v1.6.66 also )

Game Version : WFTO 1.6.66
OS : Win 7 x64 Pro ( not using XP Mode )
Video : AMD RX 480 ( 8Gg ) w/WHQL driver.

Update : ( Dec 1, 2017 )

Uninstalled, rebooted, purged the registry, rebooted ...

Then let GOG Galaxy install it. Along with the DLC's.

Same result. Unplayable.

This game dev is going on my "Do NOT buy from again" list. ( sigh ).

Hi IIVZUBHKAQOZGEXV,

Sorry to hear about the issue you've encountered with the game, that honestly sounds quite peculiar and we've never heard of anything that matches the exact scenario you describe. From what I understand you've logged a ticket on our bug tracker yesterday and our QA Analyst is currently looking into the logs you've provided.

With regards to the UI not appearing it's possible that your issue may be some variation of this issue which can usually be resolved by some workarounds. However, as I mentioned above we've never seen an issue quite like the one you're reporting before so we're more than happy to keep investigating on our Userecho Bug Tracker. We'll be in touch shortly on that side.

Hope we can get you up and running soon.

Cheers,

Lee

Found the fix.

GOG Galaxy is assuming that the end-user is connected to the Internet and logged into their account. If not --> the game gets a gibberish response.

How to Fix :
# 1 : Uninstall GOG Galaxy
OR
Stop && Disable both GOG related services under Administrator Tools -> Services.

# 2 : Delete ALL Galaxy related .DLL files in the game install directory. ( 3 files )

Pleased to hear you found a workaround, that's certainly not something I would have anticipated and I think it's well worth it being brought up with the GOG Support team. It seems that this is something that would need to be handled within the GOG API but we'd no doubt happily work with them on a resolution. In the meantime I'll add this to our knowledgebase of potential issues and workarounds.

Sorry once again for the hassle you faced and I hope you enjoy the game.

I updated the "bug tracker" post at Brightrock with the fix.
https://brightrockgames.userecho.com/forums/1-war-for-the-overworld/topics/3034-game-unplayable/

I have seen this problem before. Different game, different symptoms.
https://www.gog.com/forum/breach_and_clear_series/how_to_fix_startup_problems_windows

Also updated the GOG support ticket just issued, with the fix info.

Thanks for the response.
