Hello everyone!
First of all, we would like to thank you all for playing Wander Stars on GOG. As we release our first patch on the platform, we would also like to share some important information that might affect your Wander Stars’ save data moving forward, so please read carefully.
We have received a report from a GOG user who lost their save data when updating GOG Galaxy. After further investigation, we have discovered the cause of the issue and fixed the problem for version 1.2.3. Unfortunately, this fix required us to change the path in which Wander Stars .dat files are saved. That means that you will need to make a backup of your save files before updating Wander Stars from version 1.2.1 to 1.2.3, to avoid the current wipeout problem. After updating, you will need to move your backed up files into the new folder. Once you have done that, the game will automatically save the game in that location moving forward.
Please follow this step by step guide for the update:
- Go into the game installation files.
- If you’re using GOG Galaxy, go into the game’s settings and click manage installation > show folder.
- Open the Wander Stars_Data folder, and then copy all five .dat files and save them in another folder of your choosing.
- You’re now free to update Wander Stars to the newest version.
- Once it’s done installing, open the game once and reach the main menu. The necessary folders should have been created at this point and you may close the game now.
-Now go to the new save path:
C:\Users\[Your user name]\AppData\LocalLow\Paper Castle\Wander Stars
-Copy and paste your backed up save files in this location.
-Launch the game and continue to play normally.
Lastly, we would like to apologize for any inconveniences that this issue might have caused. If any of you have problems with your save data because of this or for any other reason, please contact us at "hello@papercastlegame.com" and we’ll restore a new save file for you so you can continue playing from where you left off. The new update will be available later today.
