Hi,

after the last update to version 1.1 the game doesn't seem to run under Wine anymore (I'm using Linux).

Looking at the update news it doesn't seem, that there were significant changes.

So my question to Windows users:
Is this a common issue, that the offline version doesn't start, also under Windows?

For me, the game was running fine on Windows 7 pre-update. The current version 1.1 does not even launch. Looking into Volgarr2.log, it seems that the game is trying to start Steam and failing. Perhaps the dev supplied GOG with a version that has the Steam call not removed? It's an idea I've sent to customer support to hopefully sort out the issue. In short: all I can say is, I can't play the game either now.

Thanks for your reply. Seems to be clear now why it doesn't start.

I heard back from GOG support today. They said they tested version 1.1 on Windows 11, where it works fine. Thus, at least in my case the theory of it being a not-cleaned-up Steam build seems not the reason for the game not launching. Maybe you wanna contact support yourself to hear what they are saying in regards to Wine.
I have the same issue with 1.1 not starting (and 1.0 working fine) and I'm running Windows 10.

Edit: did some more fiddling and it appears the off-line installer is the version that doesn't work. Installing it and playing through Galaxy does work.

Can confirm that the off-line installer does not seem to have been updated properly. According to the log it wants the steam launcher, but it also doesn´t run when that is present (I even tried adding the game to the steam library).

It seems to me that they may have been testing the galaxy version, not the archive downloaded from the website.

Downloadable version still does not work, version installed through heroic launcher (which is identical to the one that the galaxy client fetches) does. Funnily enough, one gets a bit of galaxy client cruft added into the wine prefix with the version that does work. Not sure if that is because heroic adds it to get it running or whether the game installer came with it.

Regardless, at the moment I consider this game to not be drm-free.
