The top review suggests that there is no LAN or direct connect, and seemingly that the singleplayer will crash if it's unable to connect to the internet. Is this still true?


The review:

"Multiplayer requires creating an online account (no LAN or direct-connect mode), which is borderline already, but the game also dials home when loaded, and if prevented from connecting home for "permission" (by a sensibly configured "default deny" policy, for example), it gracelessly crashes to the desktop.
If that sort of thing was okay, I'd be willing to buy games on Steam."

Don't know about the LAN part, but no single player does not crash when offline.

My gaming friend has VV and I would like to play multiplayer. How can we set that up at home? Do we need to be connected to internet? LAN? LAN with WiFi? What is the latest status on the CD Key Code? Where do we get that?
