As the title says. Can I ride the gondola, and does resting on a chair do anything? I saw a cut scene, that showed a gondola coming up to a pier, and it seemed to imply I could ride one, but I haven't found a way and can swim right through them. Are the gondolas just for scenery?

Resting on a chair can change the time but doesn't seem to heal anything, so does it actually serve any purpose when there are usually beds nearby? Is there some mystical chair meditation that gets unlocked later, or do you think the programmers just said in their best surfer voices:

D1- Hey duuude, we programmed like a bunch of chairs and benches.
D2- I know man. Too bad the animators ran out of time to make them breakable maaan.
D1- Total Bummer. Wait a minute, we should make them sit-able dude.
D2- Righteous man, I'm resting in a chair right now. Who doesn't like to chillax?
D2- But just sitting down is kinda lame in a game. Maybe they could rest.
D1- Yea, but a chair is not a hammock so it's not like a full rest ya know?
D2- Yea, so we should only give them like half the rest.
D1- Gotta go, high tide.[click]
D2- Whoa, I thought he was out buying the cake for Pam's office party, heavy.

After a certain quest which you can't miss, you can ride the gondolas.
The chairs serve no purpose - at least I didn't find one when I played the game.
