I just downloaded the first Van Helsing and got a Nvidia PhysX setup popping up at the end of the installation. You have to install the PhysX driver, even if you have an AMD GPU. And now the important part: I know at least two popular game series that install PhysX on AMD systems too (Metro and Borderlands), so there's a good chance you already have PhysX installed on your system! In this case, PhysX won't install and Galaxy won't finish the setup! To make things even worse, you don't even get any helpful information on what happened. On my German system (maybe it's different on English language systems) I got a PhysX popup saying "Text" (<- No joke!) and a cancel button.

I tried starting the game through the exe in the game folder (without Galaxy running, since it still wanted to install PhysX) and got stuck on the loading screen. Since I knew this problem already from Borderlands and Metro, I knew how to solve it. You have to shut down Galaxy (or the setup if you downloaded the standalone installer) go to the installed programs in your control panel, find the "NVIDIA PhysX" entry, uninstall the drivers and restart Galaxy or your installer. PhysX will install correctly now. Congratulations, you're now allowed to play your game! ;P

Just thought I'll drop this here since I've seen many AMD users who had problems playing Metro and Borderlands due to this problem.

Thanks for your post. Had the same problem and didn't know what to do about it! Your "workaround" helped me play the game without problems!
I have a radeon, but I had no such problems. physic install skipped and game was installed. Maybe they fixed it?

Even reinstalling physx i can not get past the initial splash screen without crashing on VH1 and VH2. Trying to run it on win7 x64. Up to datish system, too. Not sure what to do. This one happens to be an NVidia card.

I don't think so, since this is a redistributed Nvidia installer. That's not something that GOG could change (they're simply not allowed to). And the same happens with Metro and Borderlands for YEARS already on Steam, just with the difference that Steam altered its usual installation process and doesn't try to istall PhysX anymore. They just dump a seperate PhysX installer in the game's folder, so the game's installation completes just fine, but the game doesn't run until you did the PhysX installation. If Nvidia doesn't fix this for brand new AAA games on Steam, they surely won't fix it for GOG. Especially since this only affects AMD users ;)

Maybe you happened to have the exact same version of PhysX that Van Helsing wanted to install on your system already, thus it simply detected a successful installation? As I said: I have no idea why the installation failed on my system, since all the feedback I got was "Text" (probably a missing German translation for the error that occurred) -.- I just remembered that this was a very common problem for AMD users who have PhysX on their system already.

Hmm... Sorry, no idea. I guess this got nothing to do with PhysX then. You better contact support.

Yep, done that, too. Still waiting for a response. The list of fixes I've tried is getting really long. I've been scouring the forums on this and have tried everything I can find.
