I think the Topic subject says it all. Everytime I start this game it asks me to login or make a NeoCore account. I don't want to I just want to play the game offline all the time. I can understand asking the first time, but every time I start the game and it asking, is now getting annoying. I checked the options page and I see no way to disable online play so it keeps asking me to login at startup.

So is there a way to disable this prompt or maybe if NeoCore actually monitors this forum could you patch it to stop asking everytime?

Hello.

Sorry I just really don't like posting etc... but to answer you, yes there is a way. An easy one even :)

New Features

Offline players can now hide the Login window by ticking in "Auto-Login" before going to offline mode.

When I read your question it rang a bell. I had seen it on their forums in the patch notes.
http://forum.neocoregames.com/index.php?/topic/35675-van-helsing-final-cut-changelog-v102b-november-13/
(which also means that if you have a version prior to this patch, you can't do it)

What I am wondering is if offline saves/characters work for gog multiplayer (it should work with private hosting with friends. I'm not talking about steam crossplay and using account saves obviously but I didn't try yet)

Anyway, that should answer your question...hopefully

Thanks for the reply. That worked. I don't play online 98% of the time in all games so the save being incompatible won't matter to me. I was just getting sick of it asking me to login every time I wanted to play. I didn't even think to try checking auto login since I didn't put in any login info. :)
Do you actually have to connect online even just for first time to even play this game completely offline? Because that would not exactly make it DRM free if that's the case.

You don't have to connect, I played without neocore account up to level 30-something. Then I discovered that you can't transfer your offline char to online - so I went back to playing offline. Too much time invested, and from what I noticed, online only offers daily global quests in the spirit of "slay 1 million werewolves".

Hello.
Well, I thought I had somewhat covered that in my previous post (and the fact that usually you can't use offline saves online... you could cheat and all) but sorry it that wasn't clear.

So to sum up, you can play 100% offline (no account, registration or internet connection), but in that case your saves can't be used if you want to play with "registered" characters (neocore accounts, not sure if steam users can also choose between both options though)

I wasn't sure about "private" multiplayer, in other words, Gog galaxy (I would call it offline multiplayer but that would sound wrong and confusing o.O)

The answer is yes. I just tried with a friend. You can play solo & offline, and then use that character to play on galaxy. The con / bad point: since the saves are on the user computer, it's easier to cheat.

Still it is good for the Gog community as it opens up possibilities (it would be way too constrictive if you had to make separate characters, it would reduce the number of people available)

You still cannot join a party that is further in the story than were you are (the opposite is possible though, tried too), and you need to have same version of the game (patch and mod, so people playing with this mod:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/400170/discussions/0/490125737479241823
can only play with people who have it)

At least it's possible (even if in a limited way) to alternate between solo and galaxy, so I hope that clarify things for people who might be interested / were wondering

PS: If I'm not wrong, there are only daily quests and events that you can't access offline (=need registration), as you said. It's very cheesy (if not dishonest) of them, since you can't access 100% of the content offline you could say it's not 100% drm-free. Meh, whatever
I think I remember reading sometime ago on their forums that previously adventures were online only, and after the community complained they made it available offline. Doubt it happens with events and daily though

Regards

On the topic of cheating... Having online char doesn't prevent cheating in any significant way. When I discovered this strict split between online / offline, I made a level 30 online char still stuck in Markovna (sp?) village, just to see what would happen. Nothing did. Its getting gear and having to actually walk through 2/3 of the game and explore every corner again that puts me off migrating online. Even if nothing could touch me along the way, or maybe because of it. And sort of "fine, if they want to make things difficult for me, I can do without" attitude. After all, I got countless hours of fun out of Diablo 2 and Titan quest, most of it solo offline and a few sessions with friends in LAN mode. Van Helsing is still very decent successor to those, even without online MMO-like component. I'm not even too bitter about it, bought Deathtrap soon after release and having fun with it.
