Hidy ho all,

I'm trying to kill off the zombies in the graveyard, but I can't keep to kill them fast enough. They always seem to break out of the graveyward around the 1 minute mark. Is there a trick I'm missing?

I'm trunning a Tremere, with 1 point in melee weapons. And 5 in ranged weapons.

They seem to come up faster then I can put them down. Its very anoying.

This is one of the most talked about parts of the game.

Keep in mind first of all that it's an optional quest. You don't have to do it to complete the main story.

For some builds, it's almost impossible. For others, it's relatively easy. Characters with high Celerity can do without too much trouble. Tremere with high ranged skill...that's probably going to be tough.

There is a trick though, if you really, really want to complete the mission.

FINAL SPOILER WARNING

1. Save the game as soon as the timer starts.
2. Ignore the zombies and run down to one of the corners behind the mausoleum. Don't move.
3. There will be one zombie girl who walks toward you slowly. Do not kill her.
4. When she gets close to you, run to the other corner behind the mausoleum and sit still. Repeat as needed.

The timer should run out with the mission completed successfully.

You see, the thing about the zombies is this: when you kill them, their numbers multiply. If you just leave them alone, there aren't enough of them to break the gate before the timer runs out.
Awesome, I'll give that a go. Thanks!

Btw, what builds excel at this mission? The last time I played it, I was full melee. And even then, it was tough.

Mind you, it was the first time I played the game. And the questions gave me a melee tremere.

Edit: Just as an update, that tactic does not work. Maybe it worked before the player made patch?

Around the 4 min mark, about 20 new zombies spawn. Regardless if I've killed the original few or now. I got a fairly large crowd following me around, but there are still at least 3 that went to the gates on either side. And those 3 are more then able to break down the gate inside a minute.

Just a quick info, I never changed the zombie spawn rate. In fact I made the gates a little bit harder to break in the plus version of the patch...

Romero somehow does it with a gun ----- he probably has traps that he didn't tell you about :)

I think strengthening the gates was a good idea.

It works. I used it during my last playthrough a couple of months ago. You must have done something wrong, which is probably my fault for not describing it adequately.

Make sure you're behind the big mausoleum down the hill, not the one up the hill near the entrance. Get as far away as you can from everything, and just sit still. Only move when the single female zombie gets close to you. You might have to move two or three times before the timer's up.

Characters who can easily complete this mission usually have high Celerity. It's a lot easier when you can move five times faster than the zombies.

Just to be clear, do you mean the shack? Or do you mean the entrance to the nosforateu home?

The latter - the mausoleum with the entrance to the Warrens.

Not the shack, no! That would never work.

Try to find the place in the cemetery that is as far away from either of the gates as you can possibly get without leaving the area.

So, the zombs don't trigger unless you are near them so none to attack the gate except the one loan female. Is that correct? Do some trigger on your way there (to the farthest from thye gate spot)?

There's a spot in the werewolf battle where one can do that too; just crouch and it doesn't attack you then run like banshee to the tram.

I doubt it. I think the zombies are spawned randomly so you might get lucky hiding away from the gates as not many zombies spawn, but sometimes there will be enough to break the gates anyway...
I've done the trick many times, and I've never seen the zombies break the gates, but I'm sure it's possible. The zombies are still there, but as long as you don't attack them there aren't nearly as many of them and they aren't excited.

The lone female zombie is the only one that spawns near the mausoleum. If you're in the right place, she's the only one that sees you, and the only one that moves toward you. It's easy to avoid her.
See, thats not how my spawning worked. As soon as the timer hit 4:00:00 the graveyard just go full of zombies.

For the record, I never did actually try this trick. I kept going with the plot, and am now at the end game. Go Anarcs!
It works.
Tremere = Thaumaturgy. Just run a Blood Salvo on them.

In my opinion, this quest is broken and that is the reason why, as UniversalWolf has said, it is one of the game's most talked about parts. Therefore, I think the gates should be made a lot harder to break. Better yet, the lower gate should be impossible to break.

During the first few times when I did this quest, I couldn't figure out why I kept losing. I thought there was just one gate at the top which I needed to defend, because that's the only way that the quest would be fair.

Then I reloaded a saved game without trying to win. I ran around just to see what was going on, and I found out there were two gates I am supposed to defend.

Finally I reloaded a saved game again, and I discovered that even if I constantly run between both gates and clear out the zombies that are hitting them, I still lose the quest anyway. That indicates that its design is messed up.
