any help very much appreciated. Ive got issues like it being unable to overwite an old save, graphics going missing, being unable to click on items like levers and doors, ifi load a previous game it remembers the enemies ive killed and objects ive picked up from my other game (that cant be right?)

Something does sound seriously wrong, but we need a little more info to give you any kind of meaningful help. What OS are you running this on? If on Vista or Win 7 are you running with administrator privileges? What are your hardware specs, especially the video card?

I am having the same issues but the doors all open and keyitems don't register. I run vista and my specs are up to bar. also I run as Admin. ATI video card.

Just to clarify, when I say "run as admin" I do not mean your Windows user account is an admin account, I mean that you right-clicked on the game executable and selected the "Run as administrator" option or permanently set the executable to run as admin in the compatibility settings. Admin user accounts don't actually run executables with admin permissions anymore, unless you specifically tell it to.

I think it helps to install outside of the system program folder if you are on Vista or W7.

On XP I had to enable the indexing service that I had disabled earlier to avoid some problems.

Ah this is exactly my problem! (I should've looked first) but when i installed the patch on my PC everything got a lot worse :(
