I just bought this game and it started up pretty well, the reselution was pretty shit so i went to the options to see what i could do, i changed the reselution to something not windows 98 and it said i had to restart the game for the options to take effect, so i did. and now the main menu is Black screened and i can't see anything now. any idea on how to fix this? wheres the resolution options or how to i set it to windowed mode?

Append -window(fullscreen) to shortcut or if you use the Unofficial Patch check the Patch_Extras/Player Mods folder for the ResPatch tool...

Append -window(fullscreen) to shortcut ... uhm >_< i'm sorry but what the hell does that mean?? O_o and theres a unofficial patch folder already in the games main file when i installed the game. i figured it was automatically installed er whatever.

Do you know anything about computers at all? Right click on the shortcut and go to the options.

Yes, the basic Unofficial Patch comes with the GOG game, but not the full patch with the extras.

Well, i'm mainly a steam user i can figure my way around that service pretty well, i'm new to these GOG versions of games. Right click on what short cut now? the one in the game menu on the left side of the screen here doesn't seem to have an options menu when i right click it, theres a settings menu but thats about it. nore does the actual shortcut on my desktop. theres properties, but i already set it to run on windows 8 compatibility mode, disabled fullscreen optimizations, run in 640 x 480 screen resolution, none of it works.

and finally where would i get this newest patch i seem to need?.

I'm using German Windows so I don't know if this is called options or settings or properties. It's the menu where you set the compatibility and there should be a tab called "target" or something with the vampire.exe patch. Just append -windows to that line.

If the above doesn't work, the full patch is here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-unofficial-patch/downloads/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-unofficial-patch-102-release-candiate-1
