I like the mechanic of the highlighted objects if you have high enough inspection and I don't mind spending experience points for it.

I'd like to know how high your inspection feat needs to be during the different stages of the game to see all „sparkles“.

What is the highest inspection needed in these areas:

1. Santa Monica
2. Downtown
3. Hollywood
4. Chinatown

Are there items, containers or other objects in the game that won't sparkle, no matter how high your inspection is?

I never bothered checking because there are only two instances in the whole game where you need inspection and one of them is in a dialog:
You need 3 when talking to Knox if you want to unravel Beertram's scheme. And in Grout's mansion you need to find the hidden switch in the bookcase in order to use it. Must be 5 or 6 because even my Malks usually don't find it.

There's also another instance when you talk to Johansen about the sarcophagus where you need an Inspection of 5 and Persuasion of 9 (I believe you can also use Intimidation, Dominate or Dementation) to get extra XP.

I know it's not really needed and you can find everything without any Inspection at all (which is quite a shame actually).

It's more for roleplaying reasons where you play as a character who is very observant and aware of their surroundings.

That's also the reason I put points into Hacking altough I know the passwords or could just look them up in a walkthrough.

So I'd like to be able to roleplay without gimping myself too much in the beginning of the game by putting all my XP into Perception and Investigation until Inspection is maxed out.
I'm on a playthrough right now to find that out. Created a female Toreador with "Starving Artist" history - gives +1 on Perception.

I'm planning on maxing out Inspection just to test it out. I'm at the end of Santa Monica with 6 Inspection. Of course I'm maximising my XP gains so I imagine the playthrough won't be extra fun. :)
