With the annoucement on Bloodline 2, the title interest me more than ever. Never had the chance to play the original, and with the sale, this might be the good timing.

Can I start directly at Bloodline, or should I play Redemption? They seem to have different gameplay, are they connected?

Thanks for letting me know how to appreciate this franchise.
Not really, there are no recurring characters from Redemption in Bloodlines. I dont even think there are any other references for redemption in Bloodlines. Think of it more like two different stories in the same universe.

Now, Bloodlines is much better game in every way than Redemption (its scientifically proven to be THE best game ever), however, I still think that Redemption is fun, story and atmosphere is great, only the combat can be really boring at times.

So its pretty safe to start with Bloodlines and maybe after that check out Redemption aswell.
Thanks for the tips. It's not expensive so I might buy it anyway (Redemption). But time is lacking to play.
If you like having a party of up to 3 characters, and a diablo type system, Redemption isn't bad. The storylne isn't bad, and I preferred the first half of the game to the second half.

Bloodlines is one of my favorite games. I force myself to wait a couple of years before playing it again, so I don't remember alll the little hidden things. Word of warning though, if you do play this game, beware playing as a Malkavian. They're essentially crazy, and the responses you choose from during conversations reflect that. It's hard to know what you are actually saying, and the NPCs realize that. Then again, that might be the way to go for a first play thru :)
Hello! Redemption is a great game! Try it but it don't need to play Bloodlines.

Hm, I don't know. With all the fighting and all the bloodbottles /packs lying around I feel more like a D&D combat mage than a vampire...

On your consel I only bought Bloodline. I didn't start it yet, anything I need to install, like unofficial patch or is the game playable as GOG released it?
Redemption isn't bad, I enjoyed my time with it even after playing bloodlines. It plays like an unpausable Dragon Age or like Diablo if you controlled 4 characters at the same time and the story is worth playing through.

You don't have to play either before the other, though, they're both completely unrelated stories (taking place a millenia appart).

Should be playable. The GOG installation includes the unofficial patch from wesp, though I think by default it might be the lite version. He's active in this forum if you run into any bugs, though I don't think there really is that many that occur.
Thanks for the input. Will try it soon
There's no reason to play Redempetion first, although I do recommend playing it if you have the time. It's a surprisingly fun game, despite how old it is. And the cheesy dialogue and voice overs are wonderful
Will do for sure
Redemption is an unusual and I think fantastic game, right up until the very last chapter. I'll say nothing else except that it's worth your while, and I'm happy to let you decide how you like that last chapter--I'll put no ideas into your head ahead of time!
Redemption is worth a playthrough, especially since it's relatively cheap, if for no other reason than the first half of the game just to see how the Brujah were before they became complete anarchists. Oirignal Brujah and modern Brujah are literally night and day.
I cannot get redemption to run on win 10 so beware before buying
