I bought this recently, and just installed it.

I got to the menu once or twice, mucked a bit with settings but didn't do much of interest. Restarted the game, and now whenever I go past 'press space bar' and then the company logo, the game just ... sits. Custom cursor is responsive, but no menu loads.

In the log file, I just see the following message, at least a dozen times a second.

DllNotFoundException: GalaxyCSharpGlue assembly:<unknown assembly> type:<unknown type> member:(null)

So far, this hasn't been a very fun game.

I have tried deleting the settings (sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/com.LostPilgrimsStudio.Vagrus) and restarting but it didn't make any difference.

Hi, truth be told we have not done anything to resolve this so far due to our focus on releasing the DLC but is there any chance that the new build works? Let us know. Thanks!

So I figured out the problem: at least on my machine, it can only be launched from within GOG Galaxy. If I launch it from the finder instead (which I'd prefer to do since I loathe Galaxy ALMOST as much as I hate the Steam app) it always just dies like this.

Having gotten past that, I could play the game, but have had to reinstall it twice (once because I couldn't download the original two DLCs, just got error -50, once because after the update I could no longer launch the game, just got an error about invalid code signatures). And the latest version still doesn't launch without Galaxy.

Not a lot of folks testing on the Mac, are there?

We got a macMini at the office and I always start that after the Apple notarization, poke around a bit but that's it. I started it from and out of Galaxy without any issues, but that machine does not have M1. Not sure how that's connected, though. We do not have any other macOS devices, unfortunately, to cross test.
It appears that Galaxy launches all of its games in Intel compatibility mode. If that's true, then I'd guess that you're building Vagrus as a fat binary (Intel plus Apple Silicon) but since almost everyone uses Galaxy, pretty much nobody has ever tried launching the Apple Silicon version, and, not entirely surprisingly, it doesn't work.

I would encourage you to see if you can find the money to buy an Apple silicon machine to test on. There are some pretty good deals around for new (M2) ones right now (Amazon has one for $500) or there are used (M1) ones on craigslist or ebay for $300 to $400.

In the mean time, if you'd like me to test something for you, I could probably be persuaded.
Has this been resolved? I have a new Macbook Air with an M3 processor and GOG Galaxy flats out refuse to work on it. So I must use the standalone installer instead.

I could try but GOG provides no way to uninstall a macOS game installed through the standalone installer (I know I can just put it in the trash but is that enough? This is not a game delivered through a .dmg file), so I'm not that eager to install stuff that might leave cruft lying around the system if it fails.
