Was one of the issues with Unepic coming to Steam that it used some copyrighted assets? I seem to remember something like that. Or was that just FUD? As such, my question is this. Is Unepic on GOG censored or edited in any way from it's original version? (Anyone know if the Steam version is?)
awesome replies, y'all, including gog staff. superb.

I haven't played the original version, though the steam version I played had most of the "sensitive elements" intact. You did have the yoda wannabe, you did have admiral Ackbar.

You could always PM franfistro directly though, to get a reply from the developer himself.

Right. Thanks for your reply. I guess he would know exactly what is what, and this is the perfect forum (get it?) to answer, openly, for all to see. No need for PM's, which -based on the lack of reply to this thread- I highly doubt he would answer.

The problem with the game specific forums is that people rarely check them, other than to see for potential problems. I do have a handful of game forums I check (almost) daily, but UnEpic isn't one of them.
The benefit of PM is that an e-mail notification is also sent, thus making it more visible to the user.

sure, but at this stage, gog should have a full time staffer to handle any and all questions on these very forums.

They do have quite a few people to answer questions about the games. They are called "Support", and if you do send a support message, they will get back to you in a timely manner. Forums are mostly for discussion between users/customers, not getting in contact with the blues, especially since it is quite possible to miss a question or two.

A few texts have been modified for copyrights in all versions. Just changed Yoda by Yogurt, DarthVader by Dark Helmet, removed the WOW references and changed Zeratul by Zera.

oh wow. so it is not as originally intended. you were pressured or threatened into compliance. wow. the only solace, such as it is, being that it's that way everywhere.

thanks for your reply,

thanks for your reply,
When I created texts, the game was being done to have fun with friends, so I did not care about copyright stuff. But as it finally became a worldwide sold product I had to reduce the copyrighted stuff, just to prevent actions from Blizzard or other companies. So changes were not for any pressure but just for prevention.
If I was you, then I could to this with any game - no copyrighted stuff by default, but with easy modding - players could easily edit game files and insert text including copyrighted names if they want.
