To anyone who has purchased the Unavowed soundtrack -- do the files contain ID3 tags (artist, album, title, etc)?

I read a comment on Steam in which the commenter said the soundtrack that comes with the Humble Widget purchase on Wadjet Eye's website does not have ID3 tags, so I'm trying to find out if the separately-purchased soundtrack includes the tags.

I picked up the soundtrack as part of the Christmas sale, just unziped the archive and Explorer was showing metadata. Added a couple of screenshots showing foobar2000 listing the tags.

Sadly, I was in such a hurry when I released the soundtrack, that I totally forgot to add ID3-tags, so Humble definitely does not include them, but GOG and Steam *might*, if they do some preprocessing of the files after they're uploaded.

Sorry for this. I've been meaning to create an update with tags and better mixes anyway, so this may be a good time. ;-)

If you do such an update, would it be uploaded as an update to the GOG and Steam soundtracks, or would those remain as-is and the update would be available elsewhere? Also, if you do an update, is it possible to have it in FLAC format as well as MP3? When I asked in a Steam discussion, you had said it was available in 320kbps MP3 only, but I didn't know if that was because it was already uploaded that way or if that's your agreement with the publisher or game developer.

I said it on Steam, and I'll say it here as well -- this soundtrack is simply amazing. There isn't a single track that I don't love. I just wish it were available separately, without having to purchase the game, and lossless (which rules out iTunes, Amazon, and similar retailers). Having it available separately would allow those who aren't really interested in the game to purchase the soundtrack without having to first purchase a somewhat-expensive game they won't play, and it would allow those of us who value music and value your time and effort to support you directly (instead of having the publisher, and possibly the game developer, taking a cut of the soundtrack's revenue). I don't know how profitable soundtracks are for composers when sold as standalone through sites such as Bandcamp, but that's my preferred method because it supports the artist/composer directly (with Bandcamp or whatever distribution platform being the only one taking a cut of the revenue) and in the case of Bandcamp, it allows the purchaser the choice of format as well as streaming via Bandcamp's phone app.

I am not sure how either GOG or Steam works in terms of updates. Dave usually handles the actual distribution to the various platforms, but I'm assuming that if I send him files in Wav/FLAC-format, that'll be what the end-user is getting too. As for the option to obtain the soundtrack without having to buy the game sounds like a good idea and one I'll certainly look into. Be it Bandcamp or something else completely. We'll see.

Once again thank you for both liking my work and for your brilliant suggestions. It may be a while before things are ready. It's 50+ tracks that need to be re-mixed (due to bad results on smaller speakers that I've noticed post-release).
