Much like how Ultima 5: Warriors of Destiny saw a fan made remake using Dungeon Siege engine with Ultima V Lazurus. There seems to be some fans doing the same for Ultima 6.

DCT: There seems to be some fans doing the same for Ultima 6 called Ultima VI: Archon.
Actually it's just called Ultima 6 Project or U6P, they're very specific about that. Team Archon is the name of the team that created the mod.

Yeah I noticed that shortly after I posted, sadly you can't make edits to the title

But I can make edits :D

Tell me what you want the actual title to read and I'll change it for you :D

It should probably be "Ultima 6 Project" as that's what it's actually called. Just a suggestion of course seeing as I'm not the thread originator... :)

I wrote a review of it for rpgwatch when it was first released in 2010:

Looks like they are about to realese the 1.1 version which fixes some bugs as well as redesigned some parts of the game.

I actually never finished the game. It's a long game and I bought a condo about 2/3 the way through, and moving and doing work in the condo kept me from really playing at all.

I think I'll go back and start over again since they did so much of a redesign.

I highly recommend it if you are an Ultima fan.
I'm saddened to see that the Avatar no longer has furry punk centaurs adorning his walls.

Hi Guys!

Just wanted to up this post, as the final release of the Ultima 6 Project has just been published!

Better performances, bug fixes, enhanced gameplay and a French translation (well, my small contribution to the project! :) )

Hope you'll want to go back into Britannia, and that you'll enjoy your time!

Project (U6P), for Dungeon Siege 1 (PC and Mac). U6P features an open and varied world for you to explore with dungeons, caves, islands and towns for you to discover; a non-linear plot line with many, many quests; ships you can sail and navigate across Britannia’s oceans; a second world to discover; both a "virtuous" and an "evil" plot line, and much, much more. If you want to download it right now, scroll to the bottom of this article and there are download links available.

With this release we are also making available PDF Map Books (download links below) containing high-resolution versions of the following:
Copies of the in-game dungeon and Britannia town maps
Maps of the Gargoyle lands and dungeons
The in-game World Map, with both a spoiler and non-spoiler version. The spoiler version has islands that are not shown on the in-game map.

Other things to look forward to in Version 1.1:
Both English and French versions (download French patch separately)
Brand-new Moongate subsystem that now scales - things don't break later in the game any more
Generally better performance - major optimization of various components and special effects
Huge enhancements to the dungeon map system - new "helper" pins and better maps to make our immense dungeons easier to navigate - or optionally, just as hard as before if you disable the helper pins (you can see samples of the new maps in the picture below)
Many quest improvements
Many dozens of bug-fixes
Far more accurate world map coordinates

It should be noted that anyone using a previous version will have to uninstall it prior to installing the 1.1 Release, and start a new game.

Looking forward to it!
I bought a physical copy of Dungeon Siege from Play.com just to be able to play this.
Yeah I really wish they'd get DS here. I have it on disc, but its a real chore to get it running under Windows7 x64. Haven't even tried on Win8 x64 yet.
Anyone else playing this?

I've been playing this for some days now, and I'm impressed. It definitely feels like I'm back in Britannia, after having played Ultima 4 and 5. I never played the original U6, and couldn't stand its UI when I tried it, so U6P just what I needed.
For me U6 was definitely a step back compared to U5, even though visually it was more impressive),

The Dungeon Siege engine has its fair share of annoyances, like clustefuck real time non-pausable combat (you can pause it, but not give order when paused), not being able to look up, and 3rd Person View is always a struggle against the camera in 3D games. Also the view distance is very limited, making it very hard to get your bearing when there is no auto-map. Fortunately there is a mod for the mod that increases view distance.

I highly recommend UP6 if you like open world CRPGs with a good mix of NPC interaction, combat, exploring and dungeon crawling, but can't stand the UI and claustrophobic view area of the original U6.
From what I've read about the original U6 the U6P provides a more complete experience, by adding some "missing" content and some brand new content.
Looks cool, but I'd rather play the original game.
